CNN - All Gun Control All the Time

I have in-laws who cannot understand why anyone would want to own a gun..... Let alone more than one.
City folks vs. country folks. I was raised with guns in a small rural town, they're from a larger urban area and were never near a gun. Fortunately my wife encourages my hobby and frequently tells me i need to go shooting.

As far as the news is concerned, While still super liberal, I haven't seen CNN talk nearly as much or as strongly about gun control as MSNBC. Every time I flip through the national news channels just to see what's going on it seems MSNBC is either saying that the republican party is falling apart (~60-70% of the time) and Pro Gun Control Dribble the other 30-40%. CNN on the other hand has only had gun control (although obviously for it) discussions about 15-20% of the times I've turned it on. Maybe it's just timing on my part though.

As far as friends, Most of mine are either pro 2A/guns or more of a "you do what you want as long as you don't bring your guns to my house" type attitude. I do have a few that are either anti-2A in general or want an AWB or magazine limits etc. I just try to keep conversations on topics that are amicable to both of us. I tried a little to change their minds on irrational fears of guns or certain types of guns, but it didn't take and our friendships are more important to me than trying to convince someone who doesn't want to be.

Ronbert. I approve of your decision. Although it is rash, people need to understand that there are STILL people in this country that have black and white values that they will not compromise on. Now, I'm not saying un-friend those who disagree with you. I am saying stand up for what you believe in, and if your friend is okay with LYING to the public to advance a cause, then he is not a friend. A true and honest friend is consistent with their believes and values across all forms of life.

Which helps us circle back to the original complaint-

CNN (among others) is conducting a disinformation campaign using lies and manufactured drama to accomplish the agenda.

CNN is therefore not my friend nor are they serving the public good.

This is not the free and open debate that the Founders admired.

Or you could just not let that aspect of your lives affect your friendship, for cripe's sake. Talk about beer, or women, or football, or whatever the two of you can discuss without it being confrontational. Or do all of your friends have to be in lockstep with you on all political/social issues?

I've found that I can pretty much base my opinion of someone off of their opinion on gun control. It's just takes a special kind of person to be anti gun. I can also do this with their opinion on Johnny Cash.

About half the households in the US have firearms, so the liberal media bias is directed, well...at the non-gun owners that just don't have a clue...

So all of the incredibly stupid lies, and misinformation propagated by the media and the gun-grabbers has the other half of the population "shaking their heads" as Wayne LaPierre said today.

Fortunately, a "credible" threat of another AWB has all but disappeared...Republicans won't even talk about it, and even Leahy- seemed to dismiss it, along with Reid's backtracking.
