My understanding is that even a rifle with a pistol grip (e.g. AR15) can only be purchased by a 21 year old. Makes sense? No.
...
So based on that, an 18 year old could buy a Ruger Mini in .223 with a detachable mag. But he could not buy an AR in .223 with a detachable mag.
Bulls*** I can't. Got an AR sitting in my guncabinet to attest to that fact. On the Yellow form, there are two options. Long gun, handgun. Long gun you must be 18 to purchase from an FFL, handgun 21. Operative words in there being from an FFL.
You can buy a handgun at 18 from a private party, unless your state prohibits it. Anyone tells you otherwise, tell them to come have a talk with my sherrifs department.
You can buy/posess handgun ammo at 18, you just cannot buy from an FFL. Anyone else, you can buy it from, or get it from.
You can buy a long gun and ammo from anyone, barring any state laws, at 18. Dont matter if it is long, short, black, wood, girly, ugly, scoped, pistol gripped, stripped or old. A long gun is a long gun, there is no federal distinction between an AR and a Mini 14.
The only thing that under-21 crowd has no legal options to own is NFA goodies.
I mean, I can understand them when they get brainwashed while in college
Here we go again with the college=brainwashed crap :barf:
