Citori White Hunter 3.5"

Patterned today

I was able to take the Citori out to the range today and shoot these patterns. They are as follows:

#1 Full choke @ 25 yards, upper barrel

#2 Full choke @ 25 yards, lower barrel

#3 Improved Cylinder choke @ 25 yards, upper barrel

#4 Modified choke @ 35 yards, lower barrel

Full choke patterns were shot with Remington Nitro Gold and the other two with Winchester AA super sport. All targets represent three shots on target and shot size was 7 1/2 for all.

Also, ran some low recoil/low noise through it and thought I was shooting a pellet gun. Wow that stuff is light.

I shot the patterns from a bench rest so they should be pretty accurate. After doing this, which took a while with other shooters at the range, :), I shot about 50 more rounds just for the fun of it. The gun handled nicely and seems to come up to my shoulder very easily. I was off hand hitting different object at different distances and now I'm excited about taking it to the skeet range later in the week.

I love my Benelli Super Nova but the Citori is much more fluid handling.

Thanks to all for your input and advice.

You can upload the pictures with "manage attachments" tab under additional options when you reply to a post. You can also upload them to picasa or photobucket and copy the image url and paste it between IMG tags.

Citoris have fantastic resale, so even if you don't like it in the long run you wont lose too much money on it. I'm still considering one, but my auto beretta keeps on chugging along.

Range report

Wow! Took the Citori to the skeet/trap range today and had a blast. I will say that skeet seems easier than trap at this point. :)

I was hitting most of the skeet clays and doubles were no problem. In fact I got both with one lucky shot to start. Should have stopped there. :D

This was my first time to really put the gun in action and it handles smoothly and easily. I believe with a little more practice the muscle memory will get even better. So for the moment, I am in love with the Citori.

Glad to hear you like the new gun ....especially after all the issues with the Stoeger semi-auto ...:D

Not to be a smart ass....but a point of order in Skeet ....if you hit both birds on a pair with one shot / you have to shoot the pair again ! Skeet isn't scored like sporting clays - where that would be a dead pair.

In Skeet - if you hit both with one shot --- it means you were way late on the first bird ..and you screwed up ! Its the squad referee's call - but usually it means the first bird in the pair is established as Dead - but you get no credit for killing the 2nd bird. You have to shoot another pair ( making an honest attempt at the first bird again - even if you miss it) and kill the 2nd bird - and then its a dead pair. The first bird was established Dead on your first pair / the 2nd bird was dead on the 2nd pair .....

Sometimes pieces from the first bird will break the 2nd bird too ...same thing, you have to shoot the pair again ( as Proof !! ) ....

If you don't have an official rule book for Skeet, Sporting Clays and 5 Stand --- pick one up / or borrow one from a registered shooter ( they send out new books every year ) and the rules change a little. You can also find them online...

BigJimP, my wife and I have not progressed to the actual rules of skeet yet. :) We just go and shoot clay birds. Yesterday for our anniversary we went and shot trap instead of skeet. My wife doesn't like it as much because it is harder but she wants to get better. So, more range trips in the works. Good thing the club is 15 minutes from our house.

The club has some good information on skeet, trap and 5 stand that we picked up. Going to do more research, learn the rules and get involved. In fact, this Sunday we are going to watch some matches to see how its done. :D We were going to watch yesterday afternoon but they told us the "good" shooters would be out on Sunday!

I do like the Citori! Shot my wife's youth model Montefeltro 20 yesterday and it felt like a toy. :) Hope to get the Stoeger back and fixed finally because I really do like the feel of the thing. Have to hope for the best and see what happens.

Hey, I've only been married 23 yrs .....so I'm just a rookie ......but someone once trained me that all anniversary, birthday, Xmas presents for your wife or significant other have 2 rules:

1. "18k gold is truly one size, fits all " ....and if you mix it with some rubies, saphires, diamonds, etc once in a while -- its a very good thing ...

2. and never, ever .. buy anything that has a power cord ( no matter how expensive it is ) - or how much she said she wanted it !! And if you ever violate rule #2 / you better still have another present ( follow rule #1 ) for her to open as well ......and you will live a long and happy life !

When all along it turns out - I could have just taken her Skeet shooting .....

:) Well the shooting day was her idea so I'm covered. She is getting into this to the point that she doesn't blink to go into Cabela's or Bass Pro and pick up a case of shells for $80.00! I'm a lucky man.

I did take her to a nice restaurant later on and shopping so I think all will be well. :D We celebrated 16 years so I've got some time to make up for it if not.
