Choosing a range box

Y'all are right

I put a lot of stuff in my range box. There is no need to take two pounds of powder along. I have six bottles of caps and only really need two. I could go down to one or two tubs of balls. I do like the fact that the chronograph and tripod fits in the range box. (Fewer trips from the truck to the bench).

I still haven't put the handles on the end of the box but that will need to be done.

I like Napp's idea of a good sized tool box.

Here's "the rest of the story": The fully loaded box weighs 35 lbs. That weight does include the Colt 1860 and the Remington 1858.

Not a flyweight by any means; but easily managed as a "one tripper" between the car and the firing line.

Agree, no need to carry two pounds of powder. That is why I usually carry three or four pounds plus a half pound of 4Fg. ;) Here shown only 2 lbs.
We often shot several calibers and I carried 200-300 balls for each. And, don't forget I had tools, including a vice in there. At most ranges I was the 'fix-it' guy and helped many a shooter. The box closed measures 19" wide X 11" deep X 13" high. I don't even want to know what it weighs. I've been hauling it for 30 years but that may have to stop since my shoulders went bad on me. :( There is an irrefutable rule about these things. The bigger the box you get the more 'stuff' you will need to fill it. I do need to scale back.
But, it has been fun.:)

It makes sense to me to have two boxes. One for the things you're going to need that you carry to the firing line and another for the things you might need in case something unusual happens. The might need box can stay in the car most of the time.

You're right, that does make a lot of sense....probably explains why I never thought of it until now.

On another note, I keep seeing things in the pictures of other boxes that aren't in mine yet. Now, I'm off to look for my staple gun. :D

This is my $5.00 yard sale find, I named it "Murphy". After 18yrs of shootin' BP, it contains remedies to what most of "Murphy's Law" can throw at you when you're at the range. It's 12"X8"....I also take an unbreakable ram rod, ya never know. By the way, the red tube at the top of the 2nd pic is an arrow remover from my 3D day's, it works real well on a stuck ramrond when pulling a ball or worm.

I'm Glad I Got A Big Box...

The list just keeps growing. The picture shows the current contents as of this time. Not shown are some cleaning rags and the Alpen 20 X 50 Mini-Spotting Scope that has been shipped from Amazon.com. Total weight when the scope is included will be ~38 pounds.
