Choice on a first rifle

Ok so I am pretty set on the XT-22 with either Wolf or Federal ammo. I might just buy a box of both and see which one I like better. Now comes the hard part...the legal issues.

airsoft

Well, not to be a scorcher, but airsoft does not necessarily mean ready for a real firearm. Make a mistake with airsoft, you get a welt........usuually, make a mistake with a .22.........?

I'm a big believer in a single shot bolt for a starter .22. Back in the day such rifles were common and all the major makers had one. I'm not so sure such a critter is available, new, today. And the used versions, in fair shape can bring big bucks. So.....

I'd think bolt, mag/clip fed single loaded, till somebody responsible says
yeah, bang away, your're good to go.

Everybody should have a .22 and shoot it often. I can shoot off the back porch, for pennies, and like to think it reaps good benefit.

So as a minor, I would have to shoot the rifle as my "parents" rifle. I'm sure there are minors that shoot in the state of CA so I would not be the only one.

And in response to bamaranger, I am very familiar with proper gun control and safety. I have shot a couple guns before with no issues. We all have to start somewhere right?

LOL, I'm actually 15, so yeah. To bamaranger... That's kinda true, I started with a Daisy Powerline 901 (BB/Pellet) and then got the 795. After that, I've still bought more airguns, so it's not like I "moved up" to something better. I don't really think that it would be a problem.

If it were someone younger, I would say to go single shot, but he has experience with firearms, so I don't think a semi-auto would be a problem.

Haha, I'm 15 also. Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. Your info and knowledge has been very helpful in helping me choose a first rifle. Thank you.
