Choice of Rifles

Apples and banannas.

Heres my buckfitty, the Savage is a wood stock devil that with some real skills can always be more accurate than the VS2, on the other hand you cant go wrong with the Vanguard as I tricked one out easy in 7mm rem mag that shot 3/4 moa all day.
I own two Savage rifles and I will continue to purchase more, they are too easy to make very accurate and consistant...

The Weatherby had to be coaxed also, isnt like they are super out out of the box with every bullet you wanna shoot...

Yeah, that makes absolutely no sense.. especially the first "sentence"... that's not even counting spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Well sorry fellas for the incorrect and destructive abuse of my only language.
Usually I pride myself on litterary performance, but Im typing on a cheap phone.

The Weatherby first and foremost needs freefloating and pillarbedded, also factory trigger is like terrible, gritty, a lot of slack, and heavy like 6 lbs.

The Weatherby ... factory trigger is like terrible, gritty, a lot of slack, and heavy like 6 lbs.

You must have an older Vanguard. The newer Vanguard Series 2 has a 2 stage trigger, which will also seem like alot of slack to someone who doesn't realize it's a 2 stage. And they usually come from the factory set at about 2.5-3 pounds. There's not much adjustment to them, but I got mine (a Howa, same trigger) down to 2 pounds. A benchrest trigger? No. A great hunting trigger? Yes. But to be fair so is the Savage Accu-trigger.

All else being equal (and they never are), the wood stocked gun will be less consistant- changes in moisture content of the wood will cause it to move, possibly shifting POI ..... I doubt that, unless you let the gun get soaking wet and stay that way, you'd ever notice any difference when hunting.

Is that a one time experience with one rifle or several you have on average? Weatherby's website claims for the Vanguard...

"Match quality, two-stage trigger is "creep free" (adjustable down to 2.5 lbs.)"

Thats my one and only experience, hope you can find one bettet.
And I might add one of thebest rifles I ever had....
Its also the heaviest synthetic stocked rifle in its class..not one I would be glad to heft across mountain terrain.....Thats where my Savage shines its light and accurate and thers no suprises....270, winny.

I have an older vanguard and it's nothing as described in the quoted phrase. Either somebody picked up a single lemon, or somebody is making stuff up because they want their favorite model to win the race.

I have to admit I'm not a great fan of synthetic stocks so, the one I'll be getting soon is the deluxe wood variety. With my expertise in reloading the 270 for decades and my outstanding rifleman capabilities I'm most certain I can turn it into a bug hole rifle.

You can all roll your britches legs up now.
