Chiappa rhino blown out breech shield

Lee auto disk, mostly the .95 disk and occasionally 1.02 disk using 2400 with a 158 gr lead swc.

That'd be about 14grains ....I ran 14.5gr of 2400 under 158gr XTP's in my Trooper, and it did not do anything that looked like that.......

Things that make ya say, "Hmmmmmmm ........."

Do you mean creating a good seal or sticky extraction.

Lyman manual lists a starting load of 10.6 for 155 gr lead and a 11.4 starting load for a 160 gr lead using 2400

I had a out of battery discharge with a chiapa 1911-22, I bought it used. When I first contacted them I received the same answer as you did. I called them and was told to send it in, it was repaired, a new mag and improved trigger for the cost of shipping.

Not sooty. They have kind of a film which I've found to par for the course with anything I've TL with lee alox. Here is a picture of a fired case.

that really blows. I really like the feel of those guns, and they feel super-durable...guess not. sorry about your experience, but you are teaching hundreds not to buy a rhino, and that's priceless. go chiappa!! don't companies realize what they lose when they don't stand behind their products?

okay.....I kind of take back my previous statement. that's a good bit of mileage and it IS a replaceable part. all guns fail eventually. 2500+ rounds shouldn't be a failure point though. I guess it depends what that little part is going to cost you. for some reason when I read the OP, I was thinking you were just over your one year warranty

it IS a replaceable part.
"Replaceable" might still mean a trip back to the factory, depending on how it's installed

It looks like a press fit that will require a pretty much complete dissassembly and some possible fitting

That is correct. Sorry, but you can't expect anything to last forever, and 10k rounds, MOST, not all, news some kind of repair at the 10k mark

Doubt any of my Rugers, or Smith's will blow the frame apart in 10,000 rounds. And they're not designed so poorly that an important part of the frame is a "replaceable part" that can be blown apart under normal use either!

10K rounds is probably more than most people will shoot any one gun in their lifetime.
Having to change a replaceable part by then won't affect too many folks.
If the Uglies don't stop someone from buying a Rhino, this potential problem shouldn't, either.
