I got more than an earful from someone with decades of lever gunsmith experience. I may be crossing stories. I do know for certain there were disparaging stories about current Chiappa that backed up my own bad experience as well as bad stories about ASM / AWA etc.

He even tried to buy bad oversized parts to rework into something useful but the company pres put them into guns as is and shipped them out knowing they were crap.

Chaparal was one of the ASM names.

All names mentioned are hit or miss per my source.

I have dealt with all three companies.

The Chaparral I had here was the worst.
Two Chiappas I had (still have one), were far better.

ASM was NOT Chaparral.
Chaparral's leverguns were not built by ASM.

There was some shuffling around between players in Italy after AWA bought ASM & eventually closed ASM down, but Chaparral is not just a brand or trade name for ASM guns.
