Give me specifics....Kimber vs Charles Daly...we're talking about newly produced guns...not ones you bought a few years ago. Everyone tells me the Kimber is the Cadillac...but I find few that say the Daly is junk...so what is the specific difference? Thanks

Shake is right. Kimber uses state of the art technology and mass produces a quality product. The Charles Daly's I have seen look out side but trear one apart to appreciate the craftsmanship. Phillipine technology uses coconuts for the grips and San Miguel cans for barrels.

If you want to go inexpensive then buy a Systema Colt. It's the same price as the CD's and made better.I think Kimbers are overrated but that's just my opinion.Anyone know more about Kimber's Swartz safety system?Gun Tests gave it bad reviews and Kimber says all their future guns will have this system.

I had troubles with my type II safety on my Ultra Carry. Since Kimber doesn't acknowledge that the firing pin block is the problem I fixed it myself. I did some polishing and now it no longer fails to go into battery. :D

I've had a charles daly and 2 kimbers. I don't have them anymore. If I had just bought the Wilson first, I would have saved some money! The Daly was a Jam"O"matic. It kept failing to go into battery. The Kimber classic had an ejector problem that they fixed for me and then the rear site fell in pieces as soon as I got it back. The Dalys use a cast frame and the Kimbers use a forged. The Kimber is a well built pistol and they do stand behind their product. I did like the CDP Ultra very much.

Coconut grips & San Miguel cans for barrels... LOL :D
I was in the Philippines once and saw a Colt copy. Perfect in every way, down to the logo  When I took it apart, the BIG problem was that because it was hand made, he lacked the ability to add rifling to the barrels  Yup, smooth barrels
:p Must be tough rifling a beer can!

Have ya checked the prices on those bad boys recently? Gone are the days of the $299.00 Systema.

I asked myself the same question, bought the Daly, and it functions every bit as good as any Kimber I've put it against. My Daly cost $350 brand new, the least expensive Kimber I put it against was $800.

I went to a very reputable gunsmith and he took a Kimber apart and my Daly. We proceeded to look at all the MIM parts, and the Kimber had just as many as the Daly.

Kimber has been making 1911s longer than Daly, so you have to give them a slight edge in every department just for the sake of longer experience.

The only real difference I can see is in the price. I'd like to see true numbers, but I'd bet that there are just as many warranty returns on Kimbers as there are on Daly 1911s.

I have shot both Kimbers and CD's..if I will give the Kimbers anything, they have more consistant quality to them but honestly not by much at all. ;)

Kimber gun company started in the mid 1990's...Charles Daly
1911s are made by ARMSCOR...same as the Rock Island guns.
They have been making guns since the 40's. Some of their 1911's are world class outa the box target guns.

All of both I have shot have been good guns. CD makes a new
version of their best target pistol with checkering on the front and backstrap...polished stainless slide etc.....I looks sweet.

Just IMO.....shoot well

My relationship with my Kimber started out rocky. It is now my favorite handgun. I've heard a lot of good things about Kimber and a lot of bad about CD. The CDs are a crap shoot. Some seem great many are dogs. New Kimbers around Atlanta are $600.

Maybe a little off topic but Kimber has a polymer framed .45 and now so does CD...I bought the DDA 10 45 and it is solidly built and accurate as heck...the DDA is made by BUL of Israel and is a great .45 and while not a 1911 for the $299.00 I paid for it it is well worth the money,
Tony.
P.S. factory replacement mags cost me $4.50ea

What you are getting is actual quality control, metallurgy that isn't outdone by a Tonka toy, fit & finish that are about 1,000x better, reliability, durability, and an action that doesn't feel like it is filled with sand.

The way things are going in Argentina the next batch of Colt Sistemas may be the bargain of a lifetime. I bought one, through cruffler.com, in the fall, and so far I'm more than happy with it. I'd buy another.

I got a CD. One of the supposedly faulty unreliable early ones. After i stopped using the 8 rd. MecGar Mags. I haven't had any problems.
But I have never had the money to buy a Kimber, so I can't compare

CHEVY vs NISSAN

Need to ask?

Buy best buy once.

Kimber, in my vast experience, offers great owner satisfaction.

Daly 45's are more sporadic in their delivery of satisfaction.

Both machines, can get lucky/unlucky with either; I'd still pay more.

You're paying $500 extra for the Kimber name. I've seen just as many, if not more, complaints about Kimbers on this board and others as CDs. I own a CD that has not had any problems and wouldn't pay the extra money to get the Kimber name.

Early CDs had a lot of problems but it seems that Charles Daly is paying attention to this and other boards and his customers and is working hard to correct any problems.
