CETME, worth it?

91s hold their value pretty well. Even used I would think one would bring in at least 850-900. I've never actually seen one for sale used, but in my mind I'm thinking that 750 is kind of low.

Just bought a CETME.

It really is the same as the fal...but totally different. Ive owned a L1A1 and now a cetme.

Now, heres the difference. I havent shot the cetme yet, and it has a freakin huge scope. so that will effect the accuracy. I will null any accuracy claims from my opinion since they are untried.

The cetme in my opinion feels better. Quicker target acquisition with scope and without scope. It just is easier to bring it up to my face. Its SO much more comfortable of a hold, the FAL is nice but not as ergonomic.

But, the one thing I though I thought Id love about the CETME that I hate is the damn charging handle.....What the hell were they thinking. Also, the mags SUCK. Gotta basically slam them home for them to catch.

All in all, whoever says the CETME sucks is ignorant. The CETME may suck for them, compared to their 223 plinkers, but when It comes to a fully functional battle rifle...you cant really go wrong with the CETME and HK91, or the FAL for that matter.

Every weapon has a purpose, what is the purpose you need a weapon for?

Before you get a gun who "looks cool" young blood, research the functionality. Im not saying your getting it because it looks cool, but once you go with a 308 battle rifle your stuck with something you may not have figured or wanted

Also, I was not attacking anyone. It seems like alot of people feel the need to argue what gun is better than the others....Something my children do....(MY CARS BETTER, NOOO...MY CARS BETTER)

Everyone has a gun that they connect with, can use as an extension of their bodies, and generally likes better for whatever reason. I personally hate shotguns...The idea of them and their function. A because i dont hunt, B because if someone breaks into my house Id rather pump them with tokarav ammo or my 308 or my ak...just more comfortable shooting single projectile weapons.

Go to a gun show, ask to hold the weapons your interested in, ask a little info on whatever you want to know and make an informed decision.

I won't say I've done extensive research, but I've looked around. Also talked to people whose opinion I respect when it comes to rifles. I'd like an AR eventually, but for now I'd like something with a more substantial caliber. Plus I want something a little less common. The look of the rifle plays a part, but it certainly isn't the deciding factor.

Check out the FALS. Or the SVT-40, but they are a bigger round and kind of a novelty....

If you need any info on the fals let me know cuz there are some you gotta stay away from.

Never buy HESSE products.

Hope you find what your looking for, if you find anything post a pic I love seeing peoples guns on here

I was actually looking at svt 40s as well, since I have a good amount of 7.62x54 and the bolt on my mosin is broken. Thanks for reminding me, i may have to start looking for one of those instead, since last I saw they're about the same price as a cetme

+100 I would go with a PTR91 way before I paid a penny over $400.00 for a CETME. Or look at a FAL or if you have the cash an AR10 or AR10 type rifle. If you must have a delayed /roller rifle The PTR91 is the only way to get a good rifle at a fair price these days. Check CDNN ,they have a sale on a special edition .308 with an 18 inch barrel now for $899.99 . If you do buy one check our RTG for spare parts.;)

You will want to buy a feeler gauge, and some + and - rollers . You can find instructions for head spaceing if you do a search . ;)

Not to hijack this but I thought the lockup was basically self adjusting on the G-3/CETME for case length/headspace, and one of it's action's attributes. Can one person explain what's with the different roller sizes then!?

No it is NOT self adjusting . You need to check it ,and keep it in range. You can buy bigger or smaller rollers to bring it back in spec as the rifle needs. You should clean the rifle very good first to get a good reading .;)
