How many are there that carry in waistband because it is more concelable. I also find it a bit more comfortable also. gg

I have never been able to get a comfortabel position. Most of my pants don't have enough play to fit a gun in the first place. So I opted for ITP (In The Pocket) with a little .380.

i wear a heavy 1 3/4 good leather belt.. i have tried jumping jacks and running to try to loosen it. it holds very well

I carry a XD40 sub compact IWB at about the one o'clock position, forget it is there on ocassion. Using the IWB carry does require the proper clothing to aid in the concealment of the weapon. My normal attire is Docker pants or shorts and Tommy Bahama shirts worn outside the belt. I live in SE Florida where this attire is the norm.

I typically carry IWB, strong side. I find it to be the best in concealment. The gun is hidden well by your pants, hold close to your body to avoid bumping things with it, and is quite comfortable with the right equipment. As Chuckusaret said, it does require dressing around it a bit.

I also will carry OWB sometimes. I find it to be the most comfortable, but don't like that the gun is not held as close to me. I have bumped it off of doorframes, chairs, etc while moving about, especially in confined areas or crowded rooms. Its usually a bit harder to conceal, especailly w/o a jacket.

I think IWB least requires "dressing around". (besides pocket carry, but then you are limited on caliber and firepower) It is IMO the easiest method of carry to conceal (again, besides pocket) and I think is a pretty popular belief among a lot of people, even The Great Machoo which kind of contradicts himself

I carry my M&P 9c IWB with an uncle mike's IWB holster at 4 0'clock, (soon to be replaced with a CCC IWB holster, copy of comp tac CTAC) as well as an LCP in an uncle mike's inside-the-pocket holster.

I carry OWB all the time. One reason is because open carry s legal here so don't worry too much about total concealment. And most of my shirts are loose enough to not show it at all or I have a coat/jacket on. When I don't want anybody to know I will carry IWB if I am wearing clothing that will show it if I carried OWB.

I carry OWB belt slide, paddle, and sometimes yaqui at 9 o'clock (I'm a lefty). I'm a big guy with noassatol disease, and my pants and belt are buckled to tight (and my gun is too big) for IWB to be comfortable.

I purchase an IWB and an OWB holster for every carry gun and usually carry in the 3o'clock position. For heavy guns I always buy custom for lighter weight guns I will sometimes buy custom, but usually go with a DeSantis, Galco, or Don Hume. My mode of carry depends on how I dress. Longer shirts OWB my personal preference, shorter shirts I go IWB and even keep a couple of tuckable holsters for some of my smaller guns for when I am in a suit. I do have an ankle holster but it gets used very rarely.

I don't find it contradictory at all, but I did write it. ;)

Allow me to rephase. I believe IWB carry is the method which others will least likely see your gun, but it does require appropriate dress to be comfortable/effective. One must have proper room in their waitband (unlike those of us who may have put on a few pounds *ahem*) and a comfortable way to keep the gun off of your skin. I carried my revolver IWB one night w/o another shirt on underneath my cover garment; the rubber grips irratated the heck out of me all night. I always wear a tee-shirt under my cover garment, with my firearm between the two.

I carried IWB at 1 o'clock with a flimsy holster for the first month or so after obtaining my CCW... DUMB. Abdomen carry is probably the easiest way to conceal a handgun, but for me it was awfully uncomfortable.

I finally bought a decent IWB holster and started carrying right behind my hip or about 3:30. It's so comfortable that I usually forget I even have it on. Plus it greatly reduces the chances that I accidentally shoot myself in the nuts... which is nice :D

Sixer,
I agree with the positioning. I did the same thing, sarted at about 1 O'clock and then moved to 4 O'clock. This can be done with that same "flimsy" holster that you carried at 1 O'clock.

I don't have a permit to carry, I imagine they answer this in the class.

What would the police do if your concealed weapon came out somehow and someone saw it, and called the police?

I imagine it has happened somewhere.

Depends on the state. In NC nothing can happen since open carry is legal. I doubt they can really do anything if you covered it back up.

I have pretty much given up trying to IWB, CC my firearms. I always felt as though I was printing my weapon... Even with a gun as small as a Ruger LCP.

My solution is to carry with a holster made by my lovely wife. My rig is comprised of a wide band of elastic, a thin band of elastic and a small section of clothing-grade vinyl. The result is a holster that carries my firearm between my left bicep and chest and an extra mag on the opposite side. Since I aways wear a dress shirt and tie, I can leave one button undone for quick and easy access. This setup has absolutely ZERO gun printing and is comfortable enough to forget that you are carrying.

The cool part of having a wife who can sew, is that the rig only costs about $12.00.

Please forgive my 45-year old Dunlap tire.

+1 for iwb

i usually carry iwb, at 4 o'clock position. i wear a tucked-in t-shirt and usually a button-down casual shirt or vest for a cover garment. i do sometimes carry owb, too and find it more comfortable overall but slightly less easy to conceal.

That's called "flashing" or "brandishing", and the penalty would vary from state to state. Some states are VERY strict on this, some are not. Check your local Concealed Carry Laws.

Open carry IS legal in NC, but is subject to some strange and varying restrictions. Better check the law there, too.
