on the local news tonite: some gang banger shot himself in the belly with a glock. he had it in his jacket pocket and when he put his hand in it discharged into his belly.

there was that football guy that shot himself with a glock because of no holster.

ive heard quite a few of these incidents recently.

do you know why these guys dont buy a holster?
is it because the pants are too baggy?

do you or know anybody that would carry a glock/xd/sigma, or any gun with out a manual safety with out a holster?

Sounds like a happy ending to me....to bad the antis we use this against us though.

Carrying a gun without a holster increases your chances of having some sort of incident whether you're a good guy or a bad guy.

what about a kel tec p-11 ? i see those with belt clips all the time . they're dao and i hear they have a very heavy trigger . there has to be some people carrying them with just the belt clip .

I'm not sure I've carried between my belt and pants often and never had an issue. The belt covers the trigger well pretty well I guess. I see gansters carrying in there pants all the time in the movies, maybe the blame should be on hollywood. All in all I'm with hoytinak.

That's true. The P-32, PF-9, and P-11 all have heavy triggers. The P-11 is the worst. That's a "sorta" safety, but I still wouldn't carry one unless in a trigger guard-covered holster.

I've seen the belt clip offered by Keltec, and somebody else has the same thing for larger semis. That's only a small step above "Mexican carry". I wouldn't use it.

Dunno about anyone else, but when I slide a pistol into my waistband, then jog a few steps, the pistol generally slides right down my pants leg and onto the floor/ground. I find the entire concept pretty funny.

In GA is has to be in some sort of holster or used with a clip draw.

I don't like the idea of the trigger being exposed, so I always carry in a holster.

Most of those guys that carry like that also hold the gun sideways when they shoot because thats the cool way to do it. Although they can't hit the broadside of a barn that way.

Reminds me of these guys that came up to the gun range one day, pulled out some big hand cannons at the 50 yd range and started holding them sideways. I dont think they put one hole in the target backer, but there was dirt flying all over.

One of the main reasons that criminals carry without a holster is so that they can ditch the gun at a moments notice and there's no evidence they ever had a gun on them.

One thing I have noticed is that folks who carry "sans holster" seem to tend to fidget and fuss with their firearm a lot more as well. It seems to me that random, habitual, fumbling with a firearm can only have one outcome, it's just a matter of how long it takes.

I dont use a holster. I carry my Smith 642 in my pants pocket. I don't see how its possible to get one of those little hammerless Smiths to go off without pulling the trigger.

I have learned not to carry change in the same pocket though. I dime got stuck behind the trigger. Since then I've had no problems. i'm a little old to be trying to impress the young ladies with super tight britches.

Those little hammerless smiths were designed to be carried in the pocket, Hince the term POCKET PISTOL.

I have one of those factory belt clips on my Keltec PF-9 which is my EDC. It works great. BTW -- the trigger on the PF-9 isn't "very heavy", due to the hammer normally being half cocked. My perception of it is that the draw weight is about the same as the DA trigger on SWMBO's S&W 15. Not as refined as the K frame of course, but the weight is about the same nonetheless.

I use a pocket holster when carrying in my pocket. The pocket holster prevents you from accidentally snagging the trigger if you bump into something -- yes, that would be hard to do, but I can imagine a few possibilities.

Just as importantly, the pocket holster keeps the gun oriented properly so you can easily draw from the holster; without a holster the gun may turn in your pocket so that the grip is no longer facing your hand.

A pocket holster also prevents your fingers from somehow hitting the trigger as you grip the gun, and helps break up the outline of the gun.

It comes from watching too much TV.. I saw a guy at the range one time shooting his semi auto tilted sideways and angled down 45 degrees. He looked like he was trying to sling bullits out of the barrel.. I wonder where he got that idea from.
