CCW-Will it pass today in WI???

yup, sad sad day here in wisconsin.. The funny thing is, the 2 votes we were short, the democrats that voted for it in 2003 and also voted to override veto in 2003.. but now in 06, the vote against it. If I could use any words on this site,.. I'd go off for like 27 paragraphs about all my thoughts on that. All I can say is I'm gonna vote republican all across the board... Even if we get a pro-gun governor, if we loose the republicans controling the houses, we'll never get a vote on it, kinda like what happened in,. 02 was it.. Feel free to check out wisconsin concealed carry organization i think it's called.. Do a search for wisconsin concealed carry, u'll see it.. Tehy thell the story a lot better than i just did..

All these idiots just did was make criminals safer and law abiding citizens criminals if they decide to exercise their constitutional right to arm themselves.

Cause , I'm sure by doing this that the criminals will leave their guns at home now.

Maybe all gun owners of Wisconsin should buy leg holsters and start walking around out in the open with their gun ... THAT's LEGAL in Wisconsin , even though it would cause much more tension among citizens and with law enforcement. Frickin idiots.

Time for me to go buy a S&W 460 XVR and a holster and walk around with that thing hanging down to my knee ... that'd go over REAL good I'm sure.

And though I'd scare every man woman and child in the area and probably draw gun's pointed at me from Police ... I'd be LEGAL.

What say we all head down to city hall with picket signs and the biggest damn guns we have on our hips :D

Then they'd probably take that away too , huh?

How certain are we that the Governor will VETO???

Is it possible the people could bring enough pressure to bear on the Governor to make him relent???

Start an email petition to the Governor.

Find a way to get Doyle to allow CCW to pass? Sure... right after I'm done creating cold fusion, and putting wings on pigs (as both items are MUCH easier than getting Doyle to go along with CCW)...

Sorry folks: we havea couple options.
1) Have a test case hit the state Supreme Court, and come out our way. That's a serious crap-shoot though...
2) Get Doyle replaced by a pro-CCW Republican, AND retain a Republican majority in the Senate and Assembly. More doable, but still not sure it's gonna happen...
3) Gain an overwhelming Republican majority in the Senate and Assembly, without loosing Doyle as Goobernor. Not sure how possible this is...

At the state level, those are our options...

There are already cases before the state supreme court. One of which is Scott K. Fisher.

Problem is, the makeup of the court is now 4:3 liberal.

Also, high courts in general seem disposed to issuing narrow rulings. If the state supreme court rules in Fisher's favor, I expect it to again be a narrow ruling.

Our fight is still political.

So, not only do we have to get Doyle out and keep a Republican majority, but we also need to punish Van Akkeren and Steinbrink. And that means finding a Democrat candidate who is solidly in favor of CCW and getting him/her a lot of funding and support, and quickly.

It was a mistake to have Barb Linton run against Sherman in 2004 as a Republican, as Sherman's district is heavily Democrat. Nevermind that Barb switched from Democrat to Republican, that district won't vote R.

Same with Van Akkeren and Steinbrink's districts.

I'd also like to see the squishy Republicans replaced, but that's tougher to do. Let's say we found a good challenger for Alberta Darling, but the challenger lost. She'd probably vote against concealed carry out of spite.

If we could accomplish all of the above, though, we'd have one of the least restrictive CCW laws in the country.

Now might be a good time to paraphrase an old joke...

A Cheesehead sailor stationed in San Diego is wandering along the beach one day, and finds a bottle. He picks it up and dusts it off, and out pops a genie. "You've released me, for which I will grant one wish! What will it be?"

Cheesehead thinks for a minute, and says I'd like a bridge from here to Hawaii!". "Don't be foolish!" the genie thundered: "Do you have ANY idea the amount of work that would take? How deep the pilings would have to be, not to mention making everything able to survive hurricanes and such! Pick something else!". So the Cheesehead thought about it, and said "I'm from Wisconsin, and my mom lives alone. Could you make a CCW friendly political climate back home?"

The genie thinks really hard for several minutes, and finally replies: "So... this bridge. Did you want two lanes or four lanes?"

On FNC Today, the LIBERALS and ACLU are fighting to keep funding sex changes for prison inmates. After they just vetoed peoples right to self protection.

What contry is this again?

I emailed all mine (Senators and Representatives) and any that Dick Baker asked during the past several months to thank or ask for their vote for PPA. Alberta Darling is my representative and she is the only one out of all of them who wrote me back. She also seemed very much in favor of CCW. I'm confused

Too bad the above thread got locked down.

This topic here - CCW in Wi. is a real world example of the typical liberal Democrat in action.

Screw all that happy horse dung the Democrats are trying to spread about taking a positive or even neutral stance on guns and gun control.

When push comes to shove, and it comes down to a vote somewhere this is exactly how it seems to turn out.

Hal: you're also seeing a difference between Federal legiscritters and State...

At the state level, most republican legiscritters are truely as pro-gun as I could wish for. Heck, they've been introducing this bill over and over, trying to get it passed, for ages now. On the Federal side though, what WAS the last pro-gun legislation (and I don't count the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act", as that's mainly tort reform)? Take your time thinking about it...

While i'll never vote for a Democrat, I'm REALLY wondering if it makes sense to vote for a Republican at the national level any more...

SMITH910, there are quite a few Republicans who have demanded restrictions on where people can carry during the last two sessions with this bill. It's the job of the Democrats to try to water down the bill, not the Republicans.

Alberta Darling was one of them. In fact, it took some real arm-twisting to get her on board back in 2002 and 2003.

I can't entirely blame her: her district is largely moderate. Look at who one of her assembly representatives is. Sheldon Wasserman.
