Are you looking for insurance to cover the actual use of the weapon? Essentially something to pay for your lawyer if your in hot water?
If you do a quick search you MIGHT find a couple threads on this topic. They exist but might be hard to find via search. There are a couple companies out there that claim to help. You might also talk to the company that holds your home owners policy (if applicable) or renters insurance to see if there is a rider of some sort that might cover you. If I remember correctly from the previous discussion, policies that cover SD incidents are few and far between.

my renters insurance covers all my belongings in my house or not.
What?????

Standard home owner's insurance policies limit losses on firearms to $500 or $1,000. I assume renter's insurance does the same. If you have one or two guns, this may be fine but many here need more. You need to call your agent about getting a rider to cover the handguns. As Hook686 suggested, NRA members can get a separate policy.

The question is vague, so it is hard to give an answer. But judging from the thread title I'd guess the OP is asking aobut liability insurance or legal insurance in case of a CCW incident. If that is correct, try contacting Marty Hayes' Armed Citizens’ Legal Defense Network for info.

Have you legislators pass a law like Wyomiing's castle Doct.

If you are involved in a shooting in protection life or property, YOU CANNOT BE SUED CIVILELY, if its a ligit shooting.

If it's liability your worried about, my best advice would be to check out an UMBRELLA policy. This policy will not cover you if your actions are found to be unjustified or illegal. It is, however, much more comprehensive than your basic homeowner's liability.

I looked into CHL insurance when i first got my permit

But I found that the CHLPP plan insurance (above) only covers you up to and including the Grand Jury. If the Grand Jury fails to bill you, no problem. If they do, the CHL insurance walks away and leaves you holding the bag.

For that reason alone, I did not buy the CHL insurance. Just when you really need them, they leave you on your own.

I keep a lawyer's card with my CHL instead. He and I have spoken, he is a CHL holder himself, and he will be there if I need him.

Don't use your CCW in criminal activities, and you probably won't need a lawyer.

Where's this? Fantasyland? Any time you touch your weapon in public, you stand a very good chance of being charged with a crime, and/or being sued by the BG or his family.

Cheap insurance? Find a GOOD, pro-gun lawyer and give him $1,000 as a retainer to show up at 2 in the morning with bail and to be present during questioning.

Alleykat,

I really doubt ECHOONE is looking for "criminal insurance". If you think for one second that, even if you are in the right beyond dispute, that you wont be leaving the scene of an SD shooting in handcuffs, you should go buy some books.

Seriously, An HCL is a huge responsibility, and the risks and benefits can be almost equal at times. If you are going to carry to defend yourself then you need to be prepared to deal with consequences of doing so.

I say +1 to ECOONE for being responsible and covering his bases before, God forbid, anything were to happen.
