CCW - I Have A S&W 642 For Carry, But Thinking About A M&P 9mm Instead

Nothing wrong with new guns but maybe spend the money on a defensive pistol class before adding anything else.

I bought mine for $499 with the 2 free mags promo (total of 4) so the price should hover around there depending where you live. I do like my safeties just like 1911's so I got the one with the thumb safety.

well, the kicker is i cannot carry on my job. no how, no way.

it would be night and weekend carry. where i usually travel is very low to medium risk.

i talked to a weapons expert who was in nam. he said if 5 shots doesn't take care of the threat, you have too big of a problem anyway!

it's err on the side of a bunch of bullets - that's what in my mind.

Same here; I work in a hospital and carrying there is a no-no. The M&P is fine for weekend or car carry with the proper holster. A good Crossbreed Supertuck, Galco, etc will cost you ~$70 or less so you should be winthin your budget.

+1 on carrying more rounds. You never know if you will be faced with multiple assailants. And not all of us are that proficient with headshots so the more bullets you have without reloading, the better.

As a final thought, You can never go wrong with more guns or more bullets.

i can get one local for 510 + tax - if i order and do the ffl thing, it would be roughly the same amount.

i'm most likely going with the supertuck or pitbbull, plus buying a belt. that is where it goes over the 625 a little.
 
You can buy a 642 from Buds for less then $400.

That's a lifetime handgun there.

You buy it to add to your concealed carry choices,use it often and keep it forever.

I know,I have a 638 on layway at Buds right now for the same purpose. :D

i already have the 642. i'm looking for something else even before buying a holster!
