CCW holders...

For me, it wasn't feeling odd about carrying a CCW, but feeling odd about carrying a handgun outside of the woods. Two things happened: I became very aware of property borders around places I wasn't allowed to carry. Secondly, I became a lot less concerned about drug dealers/smelly homeless guys on the street; I still saw them, but if they tried anything, I knew I could handle it. I became a happier, more lighthearted guy.

I also found out that even pocket carry can lead to being exposed. It was very embarassing when a (very liberal) friend found out I carried when my gun fell out of my pocket while I was taking off raingear.

It'll take a while. I'd say about a year or two before the $*%& thing becomes just another tool attached at your hip. Then it gets annoying.

When I get home, sometimes I change into sweat pants etc and can't believe the difference.

It takes a while, depending on a lot of things.

I very quickly adapted to an OWB holster whilst wearing my jeans and casual clothes. Either my Glock or revolver rider comfortably with little thought to them. I generally take it off when I am around the house, unless I plan on going out again shortly.

For work, I rarely carry at the moment, since I am awaiting a good IWB holster (anyday now!) to arrive. I have a High-Noon holster for my revolver, but am not totally crazy about it, mainly due to the large single clip support system. Concealment is paramount for me at work, and I generally wear dockers w/ tucked in golf shirt or a suit. Once my new holster with C-clips shows up, I will feel much more comfortable. I am also considering a smaller pocket-gun, but haven't found one I wanted to buy.

Weird feeling!

Yep, I feel weird today!!! I left the house too quick and left my pistol...

I think I am going to be sick!:(

^ that would be weird for me. I've left my house without my cell phone. I turned around and got it. I'd feel just as naked without my firearm. Since I use Smart Carry I guess I'd have to forget to put my underwear on before I'd forget to put it on.

I learned quickly...

A short while back I was wearing my shoulder harness (I sit at a desk most of the time, and outside of work I drive a bit, so I chose this style because it's easily accessible and comfortable for me when I'm sitting. Hint - think about your normal activities to help determine your preferred holster type - draw area) and I changed from my normal clothing to "job site" clothing (I wear nice clothing at the office and work cloths for on site). I normally wear an undershirt tucked in and overshirts or casual clothing over the top at the office to cover my pistol...

Anyways, I change my cloths in the restroom and instead of wearing an over shirt THEN my hoodie, I just took the over shirt off and put the hoodie on over the harness. I didn't even think of the fact that the hoodie was a bit heavier than the over shirt, and while walking through our plant, an employee said "hey! Spending the big bucks! You’ve got leather suspenders?" I looked down and realized the straps on my shoulders were showing. The heavy weight of the hoodie pulled the neck area apart and showed more of my chest area. The hoodie was slightly zipped up, so no one could see the piece, but in that moment I realized that if it were not zipped, it could have opened, showing everyone that I was carrying…

I don't know if he knew I was carrying at the time, but made me quickly realize I had to be more conscious when I change cloths at work. I always look myself in the mirror in the morning to make sure it's hidden, but when at work I usually just change and run out the door...

I think of that moment every time I change my clothes now...

i feel strongly about CCW being more of a deterant for violent crime than the police.

only about 2% CCW holders and its such a low percent the BG's are still willing to risk it.

the more you do it, the better off we all are...
