CCW during Texas summer

In north texas, and done some time in south texas.

crossbreed super tuck all the way.
Carried both a 1911 full size and a witness full size in t-shirts and shorts all over sea world and the state fair. No one noticed or saw anything.

Heck the guy at the fair missed it with his metal detecting wand. lol.

Very comfortable, and no one can tell. My wife has to pat me down to be sure.

Here in Pennsylvania I carry owb in the winter. In the summer I use a Mika pocket holster or a Side Guard iwb holster depending how I'm dressed. I like big baggy tee shirts or 5.11 button down shirts.

Its really hard to have just one way to carry. You have to be creative in how you dress and what holster you use to conceal your gun.

carry what you normally carry

I carry a full size 1911 365 days a year in Houston, Texas Its hot its heavy and the safety jabs me if I position myself wrong. These are things I sacrifice to carry a firearm that I am really proficient with. I use a galco IWB holster. In the summer I usually wear Cargo shorts with a button short sleeve shirt. The Galco allows me to tuck my shirt in if I have meetings or need to wear formal attire.

I'm in Buckeye AZ.

I carry an MK9 in the pocket.

Something else you have to remember.
In Texas, the gun has to be completely hidden AT ALL TIMES!!
Printing will get you prison!!

Summary
Texas is not a traditional open carry state. They also do not allow open carry, or even printing, by those who have a concealed carry permit.

Here in AZ, we are also an open carry state so printing will only get you embarrassed or asked what you are carrying!!

Printing is not illegal in TX although I imagine that if you seemed to continually have problems keeping your handgun from being noticed you might eventually get cited.

Per section Sec. 46.035.(a) of the Texas Penal Code, Intentionally failing to conceal IS a crime (Class A misdemeanor) and will cost you your CHL.

I live in Texas so the summer is so hot I pretty much stick with flip flops, t-shirts and shorts.

What are some ideas for CCW when clothing is very light.

I Own a Taurus model 85 and a Springfield XD-40. Is it even reasonable to try carrying the XD? if I have to carry the Taurus how should I carry it in summer?

As a Houston guy, I'll add my thoughts on summer carrying... man, it is hot!

For any other time of year, it's easy to carry any of the usual choices, but in summer, I don't want to have to wear anything I don't have to.
So I gave up on trying, for the most part. When summer comes, I only carry one of two pistols, a Rohrbaugh R9s, or an LCP.
Those pistols are both the same size as each other, while the Rohrbaugh is just two ounces heavier due to it's 9mm capability.
So I always choose the Rohrbaugh first, but I'll grab the LCP if I think I'm going to get sweaty.

Also in the DFW area. For the last three years my Kahr PM9 (in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster) has been my constant companion for nine months of the year. During the "winters", I experimented with larger pistols.

When this summer came around, I decided that I would try not to downgrade to a pocket pistol. I am carrying either my Kahr P-45 or Kimber 3" 1911 through the summer. So far, so good.

The P-45 is light enough that I carry it in my UBG IWB holster. It is on my hip right now, shorts and t-shirt, no belt. As long as my shirt is un-tucked, I'm fine.

It's early so far, but I like having a .45 all day, every day. If I can do it, so can you. BTW, I'm a 50+ year old, 145 lb skinny-arse geek. :)

here in tropical florida I carry a springfield xd9 compact, the 4 inch, in a strong side thumbreak galco holster that is canted forward. over the top I wear, usually, a 1 size too large polo

cloud8,

If you have shirts that a very baggy (Hawaiian or just XL t-shirts) you can get an IWB holster and use guns in the Glock 26/27/33 class quite well. In fact I've found the spare mag pouch can be carried on the opposite side, INFRONT of the hip, and people just think it's a beeper or cell phone buldge.

I also suggest a kyndex IWB that is thin. It helps with the sweat and thin makes it easier to pack.

I think Springfield Armory makes a XP version that is short.

If you want a thiner handgun, then a single stack 1911 of no more than commander length would do. Or Kel-Tec P9 or such. Same IWB style holster using kyndex.
