Can you identify these 6 cartridges?
Hint: at least one was in a semi-auto, and at least one was in a lever action.20161230_174642.jpg

I'm going to guess the ones on the right are a 308 and a 444, the rest... no real frame of reference but they look like they range from 6.5s to 338s mostly based off the same case.

I will try this. Left to right 35 Whelen, 30-30 Win,. 308 Win/7.62 NATO, 8 mm Mauser, 375 Win, and the last one has me frustrated. Looks like a wildcat 30 cal. .....I give up. What is it?

Well JT got 5 & 6, and Scorch got 2 & 3, any takers on rest?

Looks like John and Pathfinder got #1 -#4 and Big Al gets the honorable mention for #5.

So here it is;

#1 - 9.3x62 Mauser
#2 - 7x57 Mauser
#3 - 284 Winchester
#4 - 7.65x53 Argentine/Belgian
#5 - 375 Winchester
#6 - 300 Savage

Thanks to all who played, no body got them all, so the "Gun Guru Crown" is still up for grabs.

These were all selected just cause I like em. I own , reload, and shoot all of them but the 9.3x62, which is on my bucket list along with Africa.
The 300 Savage and 375 Winny are both lever guns in my collection.
I have the 7mm Mauser and the 7.65x53 Argy in both military and sporter versions and do most of my hunting with those two calibers.
The 284 Winchester is peculiar with it's semi-rebated rim and is almost a 7mm Magnum (not quite), I have not yet taken any game with it.
The 284 Winchester was released in 1963 in the Winchester Model 100 semi-auto hunting rifle, there was also a lever version the Model 88.
I purposely did not include a 30-06 in the pick for fear the quiz would be over too soon, here's a pic of the case scripts,

So who's next ?? post a pic of some of your cartridges, the more obscure the better ! :D

Oh yeah my "New Years Resolution" ? shoot more, hunt more, acquire more lead slingers !!

OK, I'll play. These are all cartridges that were chambered in lever action rifles. I apologize for the cell phone pic.

Frankenmauser got
#1 25-20,
#4 30-30,
#7 35 Remington,
#8 44-40 (I thought that one would catch people, guess I was wrong) and
#9 45-70.

Please tell me which number in line when you guess.

I will guess: 25-20; 250 Savage; 32 Remington; 30 WCF; 33 WCF; 348 Winchester; 358 Winchester; 44 Remington Magnum; 45-70.
If that is a 32 Remington, I was not aware of it ever being a lever-gun cartridge, but I've been surprised before....looks too small to be a 35 Remington?
