Sometimes, you compromise. Being gray and middle aged maybe reduces the times one is called upon to "prove a point." I personally feel it is sometimes more dangerous to be obviously armed than to be unarmed. I read the comments about Thunderwear and Kramer T-shirt holsters, but--are we talking about a real workout?
Maybe some places, guys wear REALLY baggy and bulky sweatshirts in the gym, but I can't remember any in north Texas. A true workout is a pretty sweaty situation in my experience.
Back when I worked out regularly, I kept a privately owned lock on the locker at the gym and never even HINTED that I might be carrying or leaving a pistol in the locker. I did consider doing the dork pack and headset maneuver but never got around to it. I guess I would go that route if I felt I just HAD to carry in the gym.
Another idea might be a mini-revolver or a baby Browning-sized .25 auto in a custom holster belted or taped WAY up high in the groin. Uncomfortable for some exercises, I'd imagine. I have, in fact, carried a stainless steel Bauer .25 in cutoff jeans while swimming in lakes and at beach. Most gyms don't want you to wear cutoffs, though.
You and your workout partner could take turns with the gym bag slung over the shoulder while working out. Then the .50 AE Desert Eagle would be really handy in case of trouble.
Do any of us ever go to the beach, or the water parks?
Best regards,
Johnny
