Carry options for skinny guy

I'm looking into carry options for myself but haven't been coming up with much that works for guys my size. I'm 6'1, 150 lbs and primarily wear untucked t-shirts with normal-fit jeans. I'm looking to conceal a Glock 19. IWB, OWB, doesn't matter as long as it will be concealed. For now at least, I can sacrifice some accessibility for deeper concealment.

What sort of options work well for guys like me? I talked to a guy at a gunstore near here about options and he told me with a straight face to just stick in my waistband gangster-style (and demonstrated with his own gun). He was the owner. I told him I'd rather not pull a Plaxico Burress.

Skinny Guy ...

... wellll, I don't have any experience with being skinny, but that won't stop me.:)
I just posted this in another thread:

My comment is that the only rig I like for CCW for small weapons is the pocket holster.

It is total CCW (allowing a weapon to be seen when shirt/jacket 'rides-up' is a No-N0 in many CCW states.)

It does not 'print'

It moves easily from "work clothes" to:
a - working in the garage clothes
b - working in the yard clothes
c -going for a walk clothes

Cheap enough so you can buy two holsters, rinse one in the sink and swap to the second while changing pants, if you've been wearing work clothes in 90 degree heat/humidity.

You can carry any gun you want to, IWB or OWB if you are willing to dress around it. Virtually all of us that carry concealed dress around our carry piece.

Sub that t-shirt for an untucked short sleeve button up shirt with a pattern on it and you might be surprised at what you can pull off. It doesn't have to be a flowered Don Ho shirt either. Just about any thing with a pattern helps break up outlines.

As far as holsters go, check out Galco or Bianchi for options. Both of them make good leather holsters that won't break the bank.

Im 5'7 and 140...pretty thin. I usually don't carry my Glock 19, but I CAN if I dress around it. I will do it more in the winter when i can wear a sweatshirt or sweater, and I can IWB. I also have a DeSantis OWB beltslide that I can use if wearing the proper shirt/sweater.
Summer...I don't even bother trying. I just carry a snub or my Ruger LCP.

I am 5' 8", 145 lbs and have found the best carry option for me is inside the waist, small of back with one of my 1911's. I am too skinny to carry strong or weak side........the gun prints horribly when I tried (except in the winter with a heavy coat). Many people will tell you not to carry small of back, as it can lead to broken vertabrae or back injuries if you fall on it.......but it works for me. After 4 years of carry that way, I have yet to injure myself........but you can bet if I ever do, I will be hearing a ton of "I told you so" from members here :)

I like the Crossbreed Supertuck. It works pretty well. I would also advise wearing a patterned polo or short-sleeved button down.

I'm 6' 1" 165/170 and I use a Galco Avenger holster with an RIA CS, either with polo or Hawaiian shirts. I love Hawaiian shirts, its almost impossible to print on a real ugly one.

I hear that appendix (1 o'clock) position works well for many people on the slimmer size. Get a compact auto and it should ride comfortably in a IWB rig. Any belt-rig carried just behind the hip, at about 4:00 should work well too, but might print a bit depending on size of gun and dress (as usual).

Pocket carry works regardless of size, but I find more important things to put in there. Personally I like strong-side carry, but I've got a bit of meat on me at 6'2" ~220 lbs.

Just start "value-sizing" your meals. Problem solved, if maybe another created :p

I have the same issue (130lbs wet) and I love the belt clip that attaches to the gun itself. It negates the need for a holster (making it much thinner). I can conceal my G26 in board shorts and a tank top.

...except for the fact that your pistol now has an exposed trigger. Protecting the trigger from foreign debris is one of the primary functions of a good holster.

If you wear a shirt outside of the pants then the belt clip is fine. The problem for me is when you have to wear a tucked in shirt. So far I use a regular cloth holster on a web belt worn over the undershirt/pants. Then I put on my pants and dress shirt. I have a small belt pouch for my cell phone that goes on my outside dress belt and this pouch covers the inside gun so it isn't noticable. You still have to unbutton your shirt to reach the gun but so far it has been the best set up I have found.

There is a company that makes a plug that fills the trigger. You can just push it out when ou are ready to fire.

Even a skinny guy should be able to carry a gun behind his strong side hip (that would be the 4:00 or 4:30 position for a right-hander) and have it conceal well enough under an untucked shirt. I might suggest some kind of undershirt to wear between the gun and your body. That seems to make things a little more comfortable for me.

I have not had the opportunity to wear an M-Tac, but my Crossbreed is pretty good quality. The big difference is in the clips, it seems. I have a C-tac IWB magazine carrier that I believe has the same clip as the M-Tac. The Crossbreed clip is a lot wider than the C-tac clip, and seems to actually clip more securely to my gun belt (this might be due to the fact that the belt is Crossbreed, as well). The C-tac clip is polymer where the Crossbreed clips are metal.

I would not be able to carry like that. That just looks like an accident waiting to happen. The trigger guard would have to be covered.

Best of luck.
