I was reading another thread and was surprised by a response about licensed carry at different times of the year. Personally I always carry something on my person unless I know I'm going to a Bank or other restricted place. So I got to thinking, how many people with carry licenses carry all the time, never, or someplace in between? And if you limited when and where, why is that? This may have been done before, and if so I apologize.

I chose carry always. That's true unless I'm going somewhere where it's not allowed. The realistic answer then is actually 'most of the time', but I went with what I would choose to do if always allowed to make the choice.

Permanent part of my wardrobe - like the rest of my clothes - always with me except when I'm in the shower or in bed - when it's within short reach.

:D

defining "always":

What's a "license"?

And (other than courthouses and airports) what's a "Restricted Area"?

oh oh I know; somewhere I ain't goin'.....

North Carolina issues a concealed carry permit. I assume from some of the three letter acronyms I've seen that some states issue licenses. Whatever the term, it is the state issued document that provides for concealed carry to non law enforcement citizens. North Carolina also has restrictions placed on CC permit holders for establishments prohibiting concealed carry. We cannot carry in any recognized financial institution which includes my financial advisors office even though he doesn't keep cash on the premises. We can't carry in any establishment that serves alcohol, though I hear that may change to allow for restaurants. Also no carry in state or federal offices. Any privately owned establishment may refuse to allow CC if they post a clear restriction on public entrances (I've never seen one). I won't go through the list but you get the idea... NC may restrict more than some, less than others.

I work in a school and so I can't carry at work and if I am doing errands before I head home I am not carrying. I marked most of the time, but if I had a job that i could carry it would probably be always

As others have stated, it's part of my wardrobe. My carry gun goes everywhere I go with the exception of Federal Buildings and the shower.

I chose "always", but technically is more like 98.5%..... IIRC, there have been approximately 6 days since I got my permit 13 months ago that I have not carried.

I carry most of the time. I will on occasion not if say I'm just running to pick up kids at school and are not already carrying and happen to get in the car my wifes been driving(I usually leave one in the car I'm driving).I also don't carry on my motorcycle on my commute to work as I'm not allowed to carry at work and while I've thought of putting a lock box in my saddle bags I just don't belive the risk is there.

Much of the time.

I would prefer always, but it just doesn't work for me. Work requires deep concealment, can't carry when I go to class, which is pretty much everyday. I did install a lock-box in my car so going to class doesn't completely prohibit my carrying for the day, but I still don't always carry.

Nights and Sundays, when I actually have time to myself, you betcha. I need to look into a pocket carry gun to fill in the rest of my schedule, being easily left in my lock-box on campus.

I voted carry all of the time, . . . although as a pastor, . . . there are times it stays in the Jeep or the car, . . . and Sunday morning service, . . . I leave the protection to several parishioners who have their CHL's.

My reasons are two fold, . . . you never know what you will meet out on the street, . . . and because I live in Boonieville, . . . I don't want any nasty surprizes when I come home after being away for an hour or more.

I really love living next to a 4000 acre public hunting area, preserve, . . . but there are times when some of the folks over there are at least, . . . ummmm, . . . uhhhhhh, . . . maybe less than optimal?

If they were to happenchance wind up in my kitchen, shed, or bedroom, . . . I'd like to have a welcoming committee with me to assist them in their expeditions departure.

Truthfully, . . . I do generally worry more about what i might find coming home, . . . than what might meet me out in the street. Once out of my vehicle, on foot, I'm at somewhat of a disadvantage, . . . and my 1911 has a tendency to even up any disadvantage if I can get to it quick enough.

May God bless,
Dwight
