carry extra magazine

I carry my LC9s on me + 1 extra mag for a total of 15 rounds. In my car I carry my S&W 627 + 3 moon clips of .357 mag 158 gr SWC FOR A TOTAL OF 32 rounds. I carry the 627 for the extra power plus with this gun I hit what I aim at.
 
Sitting here (not for long, need to get two more hours of sleep) in my old ratty winter dressing gown! My Wife built an extended pocket in it (for the G19) the other pocket has the iPhone 5s, am I paranoid? Is she paranoid, she built the pocket?

If I am dressed I have the same Gear, and plus a Benchmade folder, so why not the same when away from my bedroom?

I read the American Rifleman, the NRA Magazine, and most guns used on home invaders "Are retrieved!" From where? I don't know, but my Gun does not need to be Retrieved! I have it now.

Kind of depends on the gun. What I have at my side at this instant doesn't have magazine over 9 rounds.

and second what do you carry more. 9mm hand gun or 45 acp

me my self I been carrying my sig 227 carry nitron I'm more accurate with it my 9mm I'm accurate with my 229 stainless elite my glock 17 and my full size320 I'm not that great

I switch between a Glock 19 and Glock 42 for EDC. I carry an extra mag for the 42 in my pocket, for a total of 13 rounds. I generally do not carry a spare mag when I carry the 19.
 
This topic comes up often enough that I now have a pretty standard response.

I try to be a good law abiding citizen. If I ever, God forbid, have to shoot someone in self defense I will have wait for the police to show up. Since in this hypothetical situation I am obviously in a dangerous place (even if it was safe when I went there some must have changed) I want to have a fully loaded weapon with me in case the bad guy has friends or family that will object to me defending myself. Police response in my area can run 10 minutes or more.

That is why I carry a spare magazine.

Normally I carry a Glock 19, if I want to have a weapon mounted light I carry a M&P 40 full size with a TLR-1.
 
Only time I don't carry a spare mag is if I go outside to check out a scream/whatever...
(although, am carrying two pistols...if I empty both, it is Deep Deep...)
reason being, if I start lighting things up, Wifey will pop out and flank 'em with the Calico...
nothing better than marrying a Jarhead ;) gotta luv a gal that can back you up!!
 
Considering majority of SD shootings are close up and over in a few seconds . When are you going to have time to reload . May be if your under cover and engaging more than 1 person.

I carry what in the pistol. If that didn't work well guess time for a time out to go locate more ammo I rather carry a 2nd pistol. than reload.
 
Do any of you use a Miami Special? Does it disappear under a thin shirt? Here in Texas we have very little jacket weather. A leather holster IWB for long starts to smell like wet dog. A Miami Special is not under your pants getting butt sweat saturation. The dual mag capacity is convenient.
Hawaiian shirts are common, and won't draw attention.
 
To the OP. I carry a lightweight commander, in 45ACP of course, EVERY DAY, on duty and off. I ALWAYS carry a spare magazine(s), on duty and off.

To Zach - I wear the Desantis NY Undercover rig under a lightweight button down in the summer and under a coat/jacket/hoodie/sweatshirt in the winter. It's the same rig I wear to work over my shirt and tie, as I am a plain clothes investigator for my agency. The lightweight shirts I wear it under is usually a somewhat "thicker" material, like a Carhartt brand short sleeved work shirt, or similar. It probably prints a little when I lean certain ways, etc., but the average person you pass on the street is unlikely to notice.
