Carry .380

Just throwing it out, I have a Ruger LC-9 and LCP, not fond of shooting either one. I was thinking another .380 maybe a Kahr or Bersa Thunder (Walther PPK I wish). Anybody have a preference for a carry .380 less than $350?

Thanks in advance,
Pico

If you can find an older Bersa 95, you'll be well-served by this pistol. Be advised that you will do well if you use heavy-duty FMJ ammunition in the pistol. (It pentrates and incapacitates far better than any expanding ammunition). Period.

Good luck!

HELLCAT

This is probably to late but if you can ever find a Hellcat II made by I.O. Inc. I have one and love it! That of SCCY is coming out with a .380 soon. Warranty is best of anyone!

I, personally, would save enough cash to buy a quality built pistol to protect my butt. My normal carry is a Sig P238 (0r 938 if I want 9mm protection) or Kimber Micro 380, sometimes a G 42. This type of pistol has a lock up on the barrel and consequently is a much softer shooter than the blow back pistols, softer recoil means you will shoot the pistol more and develop more skill to handle emergency situations. Of the thirty or so 380 pistols in my safe the Sig's and Glock are the most fun to shoot and the Keltec P3AT the worst.

I personally love my Glock 42. Not the smallest 380, but definitely the softest shooting. The real advantage is it shoots like it's bigger brothers. It can be found from 350 to 400 brand new and cheaper used.

My favorite 380 is Beretta 84, even though my EDC is Ruger lcp custom.

I have bought several pistols from CDI Sales, including my Beretta 84B. Here is a link to all of his Beretta (and a few CZ's and Browning) 380's.

You already have it....LCP! When I carry anything bigger, and heavier, it's chambered in 9MM!
But what is your complaint about the LC-9 and LCP?

I have an LCP. I'm not "fond" of shooting it either but I do it and I do it just fine.

I've fired the LC9 and have no problems shooting it.

I have also fired the SiG 938 and it is simply wonderful.

I have a pachmyr grip sleeve on my LC9, and a Hogue grip on my LCP, which makes a world of difference in felt recoil in both of them.

I can shoot a box of 380's with the LCP with no problem now.
And you can buy them for about eight or ten dollars each.

I would try them first, which is a lot cheaper alternative to buying a new gun.
The LCP is my BUG and is carried in my back pocket every day.

Picked up a remington rm380, awesome little gun very reliable pistol. You have to like dao only because its long. No problems at all for me.

I just got back from shooting my Bersa 380 Combat. it's a great little gun. I have had several and was sorry when I sold or traded them off. I'll keep this one. Having said that I carry my TCP everyday either as a bug to or primary.

It sounds like you want another, bigger gun. However, you might also try picking up a Ruger factory seven round LCP magazine. For a very small size penalty, the feel of the gun is changed remarkably and it is easier to handle also.

For a larger .380 under $350, I also recommend you look at a Bersa. Very nice pistols.

I'd hold out for a LCP striker fired(if rumors are true).

I started getting nervous in movie theaters and switched back to double stack 9mm carry after realizing I couldn't double tap worth a crap with my LCP(anywhere over 7yds). I think the revolver trigger plays a large role(among other things).

This is a bit above your price preference, but if you look around you can probably find a Colt Mustang XSP for under $500. It is similar to the Sig 238. On the other hand, I still like snub nosed revolvers.

Depending on the carry method, I love the Beretta 84F. Makes a great carry gun with plenty of ammo "just in case". What did you not like about the Rugers?
