Carefull When The Pants Come Down

It fell out of his holster as he was pulling up is pants hit the floor and went off hitting the toilet. It also said he had a permit to carry:confused: The women in the next room got so scared she started to have chest pains:eek:

Wow,i'll be the first to say i bet both of the victims got the crap scared out of them.Sorry i couldn'r resist.

I'll ask this and see how many agree, when sitting on the throne, how many of ya'll remove your firearms and set them on the t/p dispencer or set them in your lap.I do just because i have an open top holster and wouldn't want the same thing happening.

I take it off, mostly so those in the next stall don't see it and freak out, but that's another good reason. Wouldn't want to blow my load on the toilet. Is that too racy?

Anybody else think it was more likely that the guy had it out of the holster and fiddling with it or something?

The only way I can see an AD from dropping a modern firearm is if you try to catch it on the way down and get your finger in the trigger guard. The reason I won't carry a handgun unless it has a safety or is in a holster with a retention strap.

When on the throne in a public restroom (as rare as that is)I see it fit to place the firearm in the "nest" my pants make around my ankles. I pull my pants up just enough (lower part of the calf) so no one could see it if they looked under the surrounding walls or door. I never put it on a dispenser or the toilet tank. I know of a local officer who lost his duty weapon in the court house that way.

I'd guess he was messing around with the gun when it went off...........

I do know however, that the worst and loudest sound in the world is a gun dropping out of your holster, hitting a tile floor and almost sliding into the next stall.

My buddy was at Border's when it happened to him. Said he wasn't sure if the guy in the next stall saw his Beretta or not, but he finished and got out of there pretty quick. He did say the guy in the next stall didn't make a sound after that gun hit the floor.

Playing with It

I have accidentaly dropped my gun before at home and its never went off, I would say that he was probaly definately playing with the gun in order for it to go off, unless it was some pos..

Betcha that wasn't all! An unexpected, nearby gunshot is a wonderful lower bowel cleanser. At least she was in the right place.

There is much to recommend thumb-break holsters.......

For those who can't seem to remember that they got a gun in their holster!

Geez - what a DORK. Since it's still winter in Oregon I usually have a jacket or a Carhartt vest on when carrying. When I visit a restroom for a good old sit down, I take my 1911 out of the holster and place it in the inside pocket of my jacket or vest while I do what I gots to do. I call it common sense, but that's just me.

A little more than I really need to know about your toilet habits.

Yes; first thing to come to mind. I wonder how long he's been a permit holder. I would guess it's his first 3 months with the permit.

Completely un-newsworthy. Only value is to promote the anti-gun agenda by asserting that it is not possible for people to handle firearms safely and that firearms are inherently unsafe because all you have to do is drop them in order for them to go off.

IMHO, the individual had to have pulled the trigger. Just like all the other reports of incidents of guns going off when dropped.
