Carcass removal?

I shot a four legged predator and it wondered into the neighbors yard before dieing. Is it my legal responsibility to remove it?

I don't know about legal responsibility to remove it, but I do know that ethically its the right thing to do. Legally its also the right thing to do to seek permission to enter their property prior removing your critter.

carcass not caucus.

i was confused as hell there for a minute.

it may not be a legal issue, but it sure would be neighborly one. If you don't like him say forget about it. its still the right thing to do.

The carcass is to large for me to remove by myself and the neighbor is insisting that only I remove it without their help.

Sorry I misspelled carcass.

Then I guess you'll have to cut it up before you move it.

You shot it. Take responsibility for your actions.

If you thought wounded it, you should have followed the blood trail and put the animal out of its misery.

If the land owner told me I was the only one allowed to go get it I would tell them they can keep it! But if they just want it gone and you can buy a buddy a 12 pack to come help I would surely remove it! I ain't in the blood trail it to put it out of it's misery crowd... I only track vermin if I feel like it. If I know I got a good wound channel in it I will leave it run and go look for it under a flock of circling buzzards!

P.S. I am curious what 4 legged "predator" you could kill that is "TOO BIG" for just one person to haul out?

+2 on this one.......... What in the hell did this guy shoot? I'm guessing dog. Any takers?

Naw not a dog... I never seen one that couldn't be carried or drug out! I shot a hundred pound dog that was strayin' to our house and beating up our 20 pounder as a scrawny teen! he took a .22 straight on in the chest and died under a neighbors house. I didn't know 'til they told we when it was stinkin' I crawled under and drug it to the crawl hole but it wouldn't fit all bloated... I had to pierce it with my pocket knife to deflate it! :barf::barf::barf::barf: And I have a plenty weak stomach for death odor!
But I did get it out and disposed of along with my lunch!
But ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

That sums it up right there.

If your neighbor shot something and it died in your yard and started rotting and smelling you'd want them to drag it off. If you can't remove it by yourself (which I'd like to know what it is too ) then get a buddy to help you out. Either way, do the neighborly thing and get it outta their yard.

'"Neighbor's yard" implies driveway. Driveway implies vehicle access. My feeble mind sez connect one's car or truck to the dead critter with one of those ancient tools known as a "rope".

Hardware stores sell rope. Even Wal*Mart sells rope. 3/8" nylon; I bought some there, once.

Drive away. At some reasonable location, untie the rope.

Getting the idea that the OP is not and will not tell the whole story. FYI if you shot something and it died in my yard and you didn`t make an attempt to retrieve it or at least be man enough to approach me about it, you just may walk out one morning and carcass would be across the hood of your car. Treat people as you want to be treated.
