Canik TP9 getting down and dirty during testing

I am so, so happy to see that there are no forward slide serrations. Usually I'm not an early adopter of anything, but this pistol is most appealing.

my TP9 had failures to return to battery straight from the box, about 35 out of 50 failed to return to battery... it's about to go back to century... so far, this is the only instance of this I've found so... there's that.

I had one of these that I got last summer. very very good value.

At first I did not think it shot all that well. After dry firing it a few hundred or more times. The trigger loosened up a bit. Then i tried the different hand grips to find what suited me best.

Finally ended up getting it and my self working together well enough.
My 1st striker pistol.

My feelings were ( I like it but nothing to write home about)

Then I let my son try it out.
He took to that gun like a duck to water. Made my shooting look like poop.
And not just a little bit ether. Really bad....

Guess who owns the gun now? Yup he talked me right out of it.

That's a cool gun. I've lusted after guns like the PPQ and the VP9, but I've also sort of felt like a duty sized 9mm is best suited to being thrown in the glove-box of a car. And I just can't justify plunking down $6 -700 for a gun that could get stolen relatively easily.

In that role, the TP9 is pretty compelling.

just watched the hickock45 review of the tp9, he didn't have a lot to say about it, other than people begged him to get one, and he didn't like DA/SA guns... I've never seen him give a negative review, but that's probably the most negative I've seen him do.

mine was a lemon, but I'm still hoping century gives me a good one back so I can make up my own mind about it finally. personally I love the feel and i can get past the trigger if I can get it to function reliably.

EDIT: ploufedaddy... you've got to stop making reviews... now I'm interested in trying out the stingray as well.

I guess, doesn't strike me as overly negative. I think it's a good gun for the price, but I would be surprised if someone praised it to the moon and back.

well if I had known there was an SA I would have gotten that instead of the regular. I'm not partial to the decocker without a method of recocking, but it is a lot nicer of a design me-thinks.

Yea they came out with a Version 2 of the original TP9 and now this. The SA variant is pretty interesting to me. Does sort of stink that they rolled out new versions so fast for those that bought them, but at the same time they adjusted to the market very quickly.

If any of you guys with regrets were closer I'd offer to buy the old model.

Wonder when the new one will be findable here so I can fondle it.
