Can you carry concealed at the gun show?

Lake Conty, IL show, 1998: idiot dealer demonstrates his .22 pistol by dry-firing it at his hand. He "Forgot" to unload it the day before, and "forgot" to clear it before dry-firing. OOPS! Big hole in hand. Ambulance. Headline news in Chicago.

1998: Indy 1500 Gun Show, $70 milion worth of hardware on display. Customer walks up to table, picks up a Smith revolver, dry fires it clickclickclikclicklicklicklick, picks up one next to it, clickclicklicklicklicklick, then a third, before dealer gets to him.

Their policy is no ammo in weapons or magazines, no magazines in weapons, no blanks, snap-caps or anything else. I happen to agree.
If your carry gun is concealed, they won't know, but WILL evict you permanently if they find it.

Consider that if someone does accidental discharge, EVERYONE else will be pulling hardware.

I'm pretty sure that Virginia law is mute on the subject of gunshows.

HOWEVER, the show sponsor can, and many do, post signs at the door saying that CCW holders can carry their guns concealed, but that they have to be unloaded and tied, no exceptions.

I know Old Dominion has that posted on signs, and I believe that VGCA also has similar strictures.

I THINK that that is sufficient under VA state law.

However, I don't give a damn about it, and I normally carry in the gunshow anyway.

I was asked once at the Leesburg Armory show (the one time I WASN'T carrying concealed), but I haven't been asked since.

Uh... No, not I.

Someone lets a shot off, I'm heading under the nearest table until the smoke clears.

I, for one, am not too keen on leaving my carry gun/ammo alone in my car. It gets lonly and might just walk off... especially in a parking-lot full of other cars that just MIGHT have guns in them. Seem's like the pickin's are too tempting.

A carry gun is never displayed unless:

A: you have an immediate threat/target.
B: you have an IMMEDIATE THREAT/TARGET!

"Pulling your gat" at the first boom is
A: Tactically unsound and
B: as stupid and deadly as "shooting at the sound in the brush" when hunting.

A gun owner not smart/trained enough to realize this shouldn't be CCW.

Besides - remember, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." it's federal policy.

I would post a sign that would say something like. "CHL holders ae permitted to carry their handguns with the following restriction: Guns must remain holstered and concealed at all times. If it is drawn, except in a legitimate self defense situation, you will be evicted from the premises by security personnel, charged with (unlawful use) of a weapon, and a report made to DPS along with the recommendation that your CHL be withdrawn." I would then do what had been stated if there was a violation of the policy. Anyone not mature enough to obey the policy should lose his CHL. If a person wants to trade or show his gun he should go out and have his gun unloaded, sealed etc. and then return. Jerry

Tulsa Gun show shooting

Well watch for the spin on this one. Happened on our isle two rows down about 150ft away. Customer at table shoots by-stander with Glock 19. But it gets better(or worse in this case), the gun was checked and zip tied at the door!, so the fool must have loaded it at some time, or not chamber checked at the door. Talk about make 20,000 people shut up really quick. And then the rush of all the lookers when someone hollors out " some guys down!!!". Shot him in the leg and lucky in stable condtion.

Good lessen for all of us, treat them all like they are loaded and check the chamber. ****,I bet the body armor guys sales on lower level went up.

Come by tommorow Row 8 island D and say HI.

The gun show I went to today required that all guns be checked and zip-tied at the door. Since it is legally posted, it is law. However, what they don't know won't hurt you!

Interesting that people still run to the sound of gun fire. How are you to know that the shot isn't a looney who decides to go out in a blaze of glory at the gun show.

As a civilian, when I hear a shot and have no one to save (like the kids), it is time to run the other way.

Chamber check - an IQ test for gun owners.

just heard that the Lake County, IL show is likely to be shut down by village vote.
Of course, the AD had nothing to do with that.

I never said one SHOULDN'T carry concealed at a show. I simply said I agreed with their policy. If you carry "concealed," no one will know now, will they?

I suppose I should have said "if there is an AD, everyone else will be drawing weapons as soon as they find cover."

But do you really think EVERYONE is well-trained enough to respond properly? EVERYONE? I won't take that bet.

But I won't stop even an idiot from carrying concealed, because, IT'S THEIR G!!D!MN CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to do so.

I have carried concealed at shows across the state of TX. I have never been tempted to draw my carry gun for any purpose. If I am looking for a holster, I bring that gun unloaded and have it checked.

If I hear a boom, I word alertly look around and look for cover and/or the way out.

I was in the mall the other day and a little
cart in the middle of the mall lost a wooden door. It fell with a sharp bang:

1. I drew immediately, assuming a Weaver, and
yelled "DON"T MOVE". Then I look for sound

2. I inconscipuously put my hand close to my carry gun and scanned.

At a gun show, if I hear a boom, I hit the dirt and then look.

If you want to draw and run to the action, Gore is right.

Last, I have seen folk at some TX shows that don't have 30.06 signs ask about carry and they have been told it is ok but DON'T take it out.
