BP or Doctor D...

Did you see the thread about that odd mark on the trigger guard of a revolver which had us baffled?

This is one for you.

The "OP" is "mforster" and the title of the post is 1860 Army Markings from 27 Jan.

On the trigger guard right next to the trigger is a mark that looks a good bit like a branch or a palm (but not like the Palmetto palm tree at all) or the head of a stalk of wheat.

We were hoping you might tell us what it is and who it denotes.

Fingers,

That is an awesome pic. And some awesome attire! Just where would I get a hat like that. I don't shoot in any matches but I need to dress the part when I take the smoke poles out to the range. That and I would wear a hat like that everywhere.

OK - now the truth will really come out . . . I'm really Doc Hoy's older brother's twin . . . . usually I'm pretty modest but I do have to say that out of all the boys, I turned out to be the handsome one . . . for some reason though, Mom always liked Doc best?

And, oh yea . . . I don't do much anymore . . . I just sort of "hang around" . . . . :D

Hey J-Bar,
Someday I'll get out to Helena and take in a shoot. I was born and spent my early childhood in Hellgate, Montana (now blandly called Missoula). The background to your posed shoot takes me back home. Love the pines. I like to shoot the same guns (perCUSSIN' revolvers) of the early vigilantes that cleaned up Bannock and Virginia City all the way to Higgin's corral at Hellgate back in the 1860s.

That sucker should have picked a better time to slither across the yard other than when I was mowing it.
