Can a BOSS be added to a regular Winchester 70?

I am sick and tired of buying and testing different loads to find one that shoots well in a certain rifle. I want to tune the rifle to the load that has the best bullet for the game I'm hunting.

But, finding old BOSS equipped rifles in the caliber that I want is not going well. While I see lots of BOSS muzzle devices for sale.

So, can I get my local gunsmith to thread the barrel of a regular M70 and add the BOSS muzzle device? Or is there a critical part missing, or something proprietary (trade-marked) that prevents this?

BOSS owners: what is your barrel diameter at the point where the BOSS attaches?

Most people who bought rifles with the BOSS take them off. I have 4 model 70's that shoot just fine without all of the negatives of using one.
