California Assault Weapons Registration Form

As has been mentioned by markd and KAC...

No proof of date, and the SKS example. Remember, the State is never responsible for errors. So, if there is no date proof required right now, doesn't mean that at some later point the State won't require it...stick you for more money, find you in violation and later confiscate. They did it with the SKS.

I cannot believe that freedom loving passionate gunowners would even consider obliging to this registration scheme. Do what any true blooded American citizen should do...staple a copy of the 2nd Amendment to this form and send it in. Don't put your name, address, or any other identifying mark on the envelope or form.

Can imagine the registration office of PRK announcing that they have received 100,000 blank registration forms with a copy of the 2nd Amendment stapled to it. That will get their attention.

Please, please do not comply with this UN-CONSTITUTIONAL registration!!!!

I would never suggest civil disobedience or doing anything other than what the authorities say you MUST do, but if you DO send in the registration, and if you do FOLD it, send it certified with return receipt requested so you can prove you did send it in.

Just a few reasonable compromises. ;)

Either you believe in the Second Amendment or you don't.
Stick it to 'em! RKBA!

A question for thought here. What about Hi-Power shooters in the service rifle class shooting AR's and M1A's (with the flash hider). Those will be (are?) assault rifles. Do they register those particular rifles so they can compete with out fear of arrest?

As something else to throw in here. A few weeks ago I was observing a Hi Power match that had members of the USMC team from San Diego. Now suppose they attend another meet next year at which there are civilian competitors with unregistered assault weapons. Remember, military is exempt. How do you think the USMC team would react if the CA DOJ did a "sweep" of the event and attempted to arrest those with unregistered guns when they are shooting the same thing? I think this makes for an interesting scenario, and one that has a real chance of happening.

Anyone else notice that the form says Registration "Application," NOT Registration "Form?"

There was a discussion on AR15.COM over wording in the regulations to enact SB23 that seemed to imply a late March 2000 deadline to get the same type of "permission" to own a semi-auto rifle as is presently required for full-auto. This was never resolved to the satisfaction of the person raising the issue.

The implication is that all these "Applications" could be denied, and those folks who sent their info in to DOJ after March 2000 could find themselves in the same boat as those who registered their detachable magazine SKSs after the original deadline.

So far, SB23 requires registration by the end of 2000; I recommend that no-one take any irreversible action until Dec 2000.

love the idea of stapling a copy of the second to the form...i live in mn....but mine will be in the mail tomorrow...and another the next day...and so on....
