Buying a smaller ccw.

Before you buy check out Youtube

I am too looking for a back pocket 9mm, I have been checking out Youtube at the tons of reviews of small pistols. Some are good, some are ok...the ones I like best are by the guy.."nutnfancy" he is very thorough. have fun surfing..

I have recently purchased two of the smallest CCW's I have had and could not be happier. I got the Kahr CW 9 for me to CC and a Taurus model 605 357 mag with a 2'' bbl for the wifey to CC. Although the wife has a 357 chambered revolver, she carries 38spl+P because she shoots them better. Both are awesome and comfortable to carry and disapear undert a T shirt. I also keep an extra mag and the wife has a couple speed loaders.

What kind of a recommendation is that? Taurus seems to have a loyal following, and I'm sure they turn out some good guns (i.e. those not built on Monday or Friday), but from the number of issues I see here I wouldn't go near one.

I wouldn't stake my life on a semiauto made by Taurus, but would understand if someone else found one they are comfortable with. As far as their revolvers go the biggest complaint Ive heard of is their triggers, but some people say they are great. To each his own I guess.

I long ago settled on strong-side front pocket carry and have used this carry mode with several different guns.

NAA Guardian .32 - a heavy lump, but workable

Kel-Tec P32 - easy to carry

Bersa .380 - too big

Taurus PT745 - too big

aluminum-frame snubnose .38 - virtually as carryable as the P32

I have the opposite view. I've had good results with Taurus automatics, but not their revolvers. Two Model 85s have broken on me. I think revolvers are harder to make than automatics. For revolvers, I can only recommend S&W and Ruger. And Korth, I guess.

I carry a Kahr MK9 in a Desantis pocket holster all the time. The PM9 is lighter but harder to control (at least for me). It has pretty much replaced my Taurus 85 (still the sweetest shooting snub Ive ever had.) I carried it in the Desantis pocket holster as well. You would be hard pressed to do better than a MK9/PM9 for pocket carry. OWB is impractical here in Texas most of the time.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I've decided on the LCP & going to pick it up tomorrow. Until the warmer months arrive I'll be carrying it as a BUG to my 9c.
Now I'll need to head to the range & pop off a box or 2.

I went to a smaller CCW.......

I use to carry a 1991A1 Colt Commander, .45acp.
After 3 or 4 years it just felt too big.
I bought a Ruger SP101, ss, .357Mag.
I carry it all day, every day, in a Galco high-ride open-top pancake holster.
I never feel under-gunned with 5 rnds. of .357 hollow points and a speed loader.
It may or not suit some of you. That's okay.
Every one likes something different.
That's why they make so many different calibers, brands & models, hunnh.
Have fun

What's the consensus comparing Kahr & Kel-Tec to let's say Ruger? I know they're both a few (or more) steps below S&W.
I think most of us would disagree.

I think very few would claim S&W quality is higher than Kahr. At least their standard production. Performance Center certainly leaves room for that argument.

I wouldn't say S&W is higher quality than Ruger either. They have slightly different design goals, but the quality of Ruger is at least on par with current S&W.

Kel-tec does cut corners to keep cost down.
