Buying a New Gun which one .38 or .357

Hal, I agree with you. That is one thing we must improve here in my country. Freedom to own a gun as much as we could for good purpose. Freedom to choose the president we like (not dictated or influenced by some super powers). Freedom to conduct our own business and political affairs. A full freedom to exercise and shape our own destiny. In fact, it seems that we are only independent (from our former colonizer) in terms of papers but still under her claws.

If there is a chance I want to learn also the so called freedom from USA and bring it here in my country and implant to the minds of the populace specially the peasant. :)

i agree with treeprof. the Ruger GP100 with 6" barrel is the way to go. you can shoot .38s and if you feel like it .357 magnums as well. besides it looks real nice.

Are the used S&W expensive too? You might be able to mail-order a used one from a US retailer. You'll have to read up on their policies.

I picked up a nice 357 S&W for around $325 to my door online. My approach is to shoot 38 Special loads in 357 cases and this skirts the erosion altogether. You have to be a handloader though...

You should be able to find a nice used Ruger Security Six or something for a very reasonable price. If you must buy new, a GP-100 would be a good bet I think.

Hi!

The posts are all good advices. I thank you of all the ideas given to me.

A while ago, I was offered a Taurus .357 titanium for 21,000 pesos 382 US$ and S&W .38 for 25K, both are slightly used and it gives me again a hard choice for these two. Perhaps in few weeks I can already get one and I was not mistaken in choosing one.

Smaug, in the Philippines it is too much paper work before we can order a gun personally from US. It is not that easy, we will be paying more than the value of one gun.

Thanks,
