Bush's DUI-Will It Backfire?

To me, the fact that Bush has been open and honest about his drinking should neutralize most of whatever effect the news about his DUI may otherwise have had. Plus, he pled guilty--he owned up to his mistake and accepted the consequences. He's no liar and no hypocrite, as distinct from the weasels that oppose him.

Anyway, I don't see how the news can fail to blacken the Dems far more than it blackens Bush. But then, I like Bush, so I guess I'm biased in his favor.

I think the people will look at this as just another cheap shot in desperation. Gore will do anything to get elected and HOPEFULLY the public will know this. If gore wins, prepare for war.

Not only is this ( old news, time to mooove on-- ) "story" liable to backfire, it decreases the chance the Arkanfuhrer will bomb anybody in the next few days, as that would knock the "DUI issue" off the front pages....

"I did it, and I was wrong". After 8 years of Clinton, this should be a shining example to the people, of the character difference between Clinton/Gore, and George W.

Oh, I can't believe this! The talking heads on GMA, are really spinning this. They are claiming that (1) Bush tried to hide this from the American people, and (2) when confronted with this, Bush did not take responsibility for his actions, but made excesses, and put the blame on others! WTF???!!!! What freaking press conference where they watching????!!! The bad part is that the Sheeple would believe that the sky is green, if the talking heads told them so.

I'm going to really enjoy watching these liars pout, and have hissy fits on Tuesday night, when their boy gets his a** kicked.

Today had the reporter on. Now she overheard a lawyer and a judge talking about it. Then she just "happened" to run into the lawyer that handled the case. Oh well, "The West Wing" has a chief of staff that was a drunk and substance abuser and the morons adore that show. I only say this as they get their news "facts" from prime time tv.

I`m actually surprised this broke so soon. I figured the dems would have a "60 Minutes" piece Sunday night. Of course it ain`t Sunday night yet.

This reporter didn't "stumble" over the story. She was given the info by a lawyer she refuses to name, except she mentioned that he'd been to the Dem. convention. This was a deliberate leak with deniability. Guess they put all those FBI records they stole to good use.

here's some dirt for you to spread around if you want to...

And I thought the story goes like this...

A police officer overheard this lawyer and judge talking about this... the police officer mentioned it to the reporter, who was there covering an unrelated case. The reporter then directly asked the lawyer, who just happens to have a copy of the arrest report in his office. The lawyer was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention this year.

No, it's just a coincidence...

Personally I think it will back fire. Anyone with a brain will look at this as "politics as usual" and either vote for Nader or Bush, the "outsiders".

Peace...
Keith

This episode smells suspiciously like the Newt Gengrich episode where a couple (democrat) in Florida just happened to have a scanner coincidently tuned (after modification) to a cell tower that just happened to be transmitting a cell conversation with Newt. . . . . You get the picture.

Look at the line up of coincidental events that resulted in the report being available to the media.

This is a Clinton set up. You will see more come out later.

I am just pointing out that when it comes to Liberals and Democrats (not all of em :D) their man Clinton/Gore can do no wrong!

Here Bush stepped up to the plate and flat out admitted. No spin. No embellishment/exaggeration!

With Clinton it would have been. "Yes..I did sip of beer/alcholic beverage, but did not swallow said beverage" or "Can you please define the meaning of Driving While Intoxicated!

My respect for Bush has increased 1000%. No spin, nothing. We all knew he had alcohol problems back in the day and he was straight up with it.

This coming out just DAYS before the election is ONLY intended to hurt him considering that it has been in records for a quarter of a century! Gore missed a golden opportunity. He could have aired this out MONTHS ago during the primaries and hammered on it. Instead he waited to late!

I would much rather have a Commander in Chief who had been busted and remained clean for many years than a Commander in heat who was a current user/abuser.
