OK. Look at how business and trade was handled by our Founding Fathers and the early years of the Republic....
Intra-state commerce: hands off by the Feds. States handled their own.
Interstate commerce: Feds only regulated for Federal tax purposes.
International commerce: considered as much a national security issue as an economic issue. Feds negotiated & ratified treaties. Used tariffs to protect American business and interests. Main focus was to keep nation strong and independent of foreign manipulation and pressure. Economy as a defensive (and sometimes offensive) weapon option.
When the Feds took the "national security" focus from international trade, we laid our own necks on the block.....
