Bush/Cheney bumper sticker sent man into road rage

TAMPA - A Tampa man is out of jail after a possible road rage incident that gives new meaning to the term "driving left of center."

Nathan Winkler, 31, was arrested overnight and charged with aggravated stalking for allegedly terrorizing a mother and her two children.

According to police, Winkler pulled up alongside Michelle Fernandez as she was headed south on Armenia and began beeping his horn and flailing his arms, pointing at her. Fernandez, meanwhile, could not see Winkler's face because of a handmade sign in his window that read, "Never forget Bush's illegal oil war murdered thousands in Iraq."

"Apparently, this starts over political views or bumper stickers. She had a Bush/Cheney sticker on the back of her car. There's just no excuse for it to escalate to what it did," observed Tampa police spokesman Joe Durkin.

Winkler apparently grew more agitated as they continued to drive along, allegedly trying to run Fernandez's car off the road several times over the next few miles.

"...gives new meaning to the term 'driving left of center.'" :D HA! :D

Imagine his response if she had been armed and presented her firearm to ward off his attack.

2 days after the election I had my 2 rear tires slashed on my truck by someone who I believe took offense to my "W" sticker. A friend of mine had his vehicle keyed all the way down the drivers side on election day by someone who probably took offense to his "W" sticker.

I have a Future Farmers plate on my car and I took one of those Bush-Cheney Farm and Ranch Team stickers and cut off the Bush-Cheney line and the url from the bottom and put it on the window so it just says "Farm - Ranch team." City people might think it's cuz i like farming but the local country folk know what it really means!

Best yet, it's in John Deere colors!

You notice it's the people with the Bush stickers that keep getting their cars/houses vandalized like this? This was going on quite a bit before the election. I didn't hear of any cars with Kerry stickers getting vandalized, but I heard of several (one just down the street) with the 'W' or Bush stickers!

Funniest thing (to me at least), my wife had ordered a Bush sign for the front yard. While waiting for it, our neighbor had put a Kerry one in theirs. We got our sign, and put it in the yard. Next day that same neighbor had put a second sign in their front yard! I was cracking up! :D

The day after the election I took my 'W' sticker off my BMW for this very reason. People are just such sore loosers these days. I'm sure some disgruntled Kerry supporter would have loved the chance to key a BMW with a 'W' sticker on it!

That's the excat reason I left the stickers on my car! I pity the punk who I catch trying to slash my tires...

IF you wear your heart on your sleeve, SOMEONE will come along and cut it off.

I could care less about 'politcal correctness'. I do believe in security and stealth. If someone wants to know my opinion, JUST ASK. But I don't share my politcal viewpoints from the back of my truck.

It's the same reason I removed all the Harley stickers from the back of my truck a LONG time ago. Thieves would follow you home to find out where to steal their next Harley from.

If you don't ADVERTISE, you don't find yourself in these kinds of situations, GENERALLY SPEAKING.

I voted Libertarian in 2004 because I didn't like either canadate enough to elect them and I knew Bush was going to win North Dakota. Several Pro-Kerry coworkers hated how I dismissed Kerry's chances in the election. They where hyper over every little thing and asked if I was worried about Bush. I said to them, "Why worry, Bush is going to win. What is there for me to worry about?" I have to say, they where the biggest bunch of sore loosers I ahve ever seen.

Talk about self-abuse

I still see Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers here in CA . I guess it is the "martyr mentality" at work . I sometimes wonder how they would take it if I took a roll of tape and put the following message just below it . "And the driver is the THIRD LOSER".

I don't have any Bush or Kerry stickers on my truck, I think they are both goobers. I do have a California Rifle and Pistol Association sticker, and a "Don't treat on me" Gadsden flag. I wonder if that pisses off any of the California lefties... :D

Here, I'll roll my eyes as well  at the absurd notion, refuted daily, that liberals are somehow immune from hatefulness. This past election should disabuse any rational person of such a notion.

here in MD

A 70 yr old man attacked a 60 some old man before the election this past year for putting up Bush signs. The owner of the property had asked the man to put up some Bush signs on his roadside property. When the 70 yr old Kerry supporter drove by and saw this he became enraged, stopped his car and started pulling down the Bush signs. When confronted verbally, he punched the Bush supporter in the face.

Grandpa death match.

Yeah, we had a bunch of people steal tons Kerry signs in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Hope freedom lovers here are equally offended by that, it shouldn't make a difference whose sign was stolen. That 2000 election brought out a lot of ugliness and hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle.

Gore's side - Revote! (Ridiculous)
I only want these counties recounted.
I won the popular vote! (So what?)

Bush's side - Supreme Court decision, but it shouldn't be used as a guidepost to any other case.
We don't believe in strong states rights or voter intent...this time.

Disgraceful.

"Oh, yes. 'Liberals', those violent hate mongers."

Frankly, I'm not surprised either. Liberals give lip service to freedom of speech, but just dare to say something they don't agree with and see how quickly and loudly you're shouted down. This is literally true. If you don't believe me, attend a Santa Cruz California city council meeting some time.

Well I hate G.W. and CHeney as much as the next liberal, but I would never take it out on their sheeple. The best way to get to a Bush supporter is have a debate with them ; )

Doing anything violent while driving is just very stupid. You should not mess around while driving a car. I think this man had much more issues than just hating George Bush, anyone who does what he did regardless of the reason is out of control.

I was just saying that most days liberals are portrayed as pacifist pansies. Suddenly, this story shows that liberals are typically violent and dangerous. You can't have it both ways.

I say: Liberals are people that have some basic disagreements with us about how a country should be run. That doesn't make them welfare junkies, rich snobs, effete intellectuals, gay, hippies, black, Jewish, Yankee, "working class", farmers, city slickers, coma victims, cult members, illegal immigrants or space aliens.

Your liberal neighbor has more in common with you than 99% of the rest of the people on earth. Statements like "Its Typical is anyone really surprised?? Im not" show much more typically unfortunate behavior than anything the idiot with the car did.

Anyone who doesn't realize that the bumper stickers could have been reversed with exactly the same outcome is living in a fantasy land. Let it drop.
