Bush and Ashcroft support assault weapons ban

I don't think they give a rats a$$ about the constitution. All I hear around hear is abortion crap, now I'm not about to make the argument that the "right" to an abortion is a constitutional one but it sure looks to me like the religious zealots are having too much fun. No wonder some of the people I know voted for the dems. I hope I'm wrong but I think one kind of political correctness is going to be replaced by another. The constitution will continue to take a beating.
I read somewhere, maybe here, that Ashcroft is one of those "secret search" fellas.

Payette Jack asks, "The real question is: what kind of mental gymnastics will TFLers do to rationalize voting for the loser again?"

Some possibilities:

- He's been in office four years, he doesn't need to pussyfoot around. This time George will listen to us gun owners and support the Constitution.

- He's better than his opponent - Hillary!

- Remember! Nobody else is "viable"! ;)

:D :D

My personal opinion is that we should start today with a letter, fax, email campaign to GWB, The VP, Ashcroft and our senators and representatives. We have to let them know that we will tolerate NO unconstitutional restriction of our right to keep and bear arms.

When do you think Emerson will be decided???

I think with all of the Potential Supreme Court Nominations in the next 4 years (and When things will get nasty) Bush isn't going to kiss ass so he can get elected for 4 more years. I really think he is going to pour out the concrete when he names Supreme Court Justices and if the Liberals don't like it THEY'LL HAVE 20YRS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT!! Look at how long Renquest has been in there. Since Nixon I think. Bush Knows if Roe vs. Wade gets overturned its going to get handed down to the States where it should be and I think a lot of Liberals aren't going to care about that after it happens. There afraid of it now but after it happens they'll say oh OK. They can still have legal abortions in there state if they wanted to. Same goes for Gun laws. The reason I voted for Bush was the Supreme Court and how these next 4 years will affect so many issues for the next 15-30yrs.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh.. I accidentally hit "clear fields" instead of "submit reply". Some day I'll have time to re-write the novella.

Rich, God's sake, make an "undo" feature for the accidental "clear fields" hit, or put that button WaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY far away from submit, dammit. :(

Gist of post: We CAN win this battle, guys.

Indy Steve....

"Clause 8: Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." "

They dont seem to care, or know what the Constitution is.

But he wont outright
attack it as Gore would he'll only
circumvent it and supercede it and oh yes
dont forget the ever 'honorable' chant
of -enforcing the laws on the books-
for the protection of the criminal element
already on the streets and in congress.
I guess most here figure if we shout
loud enough and long enough
how Gore would have been worse that we'll
have reason to
keep quiet the complaints and the thoughts
of joining groups that will actually oppose
the many ways he will infringe the constitution
at the behest of the largest of lobbies
the liberal media.

Hey futo - That's happened to me before too. Bummmaahh! A couple times I've hit clear field, mostly I get kicked off the web, always when I've composed the most beautful well thought out expression of my opinion on the subject ever! Now I type fast and hit post.

Oh well, the world will just have to be deprived of our opinion, what a loss!

gitarmac

LOL! Yeah, what a loss for the world. ;) Well, glad I'm not the only one to do that. Probably for the better - when I have a minute, I'll compose what is probably a briefer, more succcint version anyway, which will save everyone else time. See ya.

But the NRA will and has for some time now
and we both know that the republicand care
a hell of a lot more about their large
wishy washy voice than yours or mine or
those other small groups who do oppose these
many compromises to the constitution.
The great majority have made our feeble
complacent bed infact about 4 million of us
and now we will all lay in it.
We will feel the many old laws continued
and enforced upon us and pherphaps one day
well wake up and realize while Bush may have
been our only choice for Prez we screwed our selves
by continuing to support weak kneed weak minded
compromising congressmen who would not make
certain he remained on a strong narrow path
that supported our gunrights and opposed the libreral
media.
