Bulgarian Makarov from SOG

The P83 Polish pistol in 9x18 Makarov is an entirely different pistol than a Russian, EG or Bulgarian Makerov.

It's like bringing up a Glock 19 when talking about a Browning Hi Power. Shoots 9x19, yeah, but no necessary similarity otherwise.

I've had the Ruskie Maks (both civilian hi-cap and standard issue versions) and the CZ-82. I don't have any of 'em anymore. When they were less than $200 back in the day, it made sense to pick 'em up as plinkers, sometime CCW's, or just to haves.

At $329, there are better options out there in the ways of S&W 59XX, 915's, SD's, SWVE's, Ruger 85, 89, 95's. Same goes for the SKS's. For me, the only reason to buy 'em at the current prices is for collectibility purposes.

Onward, agree for the money one can purchase more carry or plinking pistol, however, i tend to collect things in groups. Currently i have pistols from every Combloc country in one pile, over eighty Star pistols in another, SAA Colts are an obsession as are Winchester levers and don't forget AR's and HP's. I shoot everything so it makes a lot of sense to spend $329 for an unissued well made pistol that fits into an extra nitch in the safe.

Ibmikey:

My first stock Polish P-83 has a better DA trigger than my classic EG Makarov, which is pretty smooth.
That's why I quickly bought a second P-83.:)

There is a hammer spur, similar to the hammer on the very popular CZ-82/83.

They lack the polished finish, but the P-83s seem just as rugged/reliable as my Bulgy, EG and comm. Russian Makarovs.

Ignition, Agree totally as I have all of those pistols, wondered about the P83 when i ordered it....a pistol made from folded steel? What i actually received was a like new well engineered and accurate pistol for not too much money. My EG is also like new and sits in the safe to keep it nice while many of the others are shot often, i had one of my CZ 82's parkerized and two others Ceracoated and installed walnut grips on all three....beauty and they are real shooters. What little i have shot the new Mak i think it too will be well worth the $ outlay.

I thought you needed an FFL to order from SOG, correct?

Just to clarify a little. You can call them ,order and pay for the pistol yourself. It just has to be shipped to an FFL holder who is on their list. Then you pick up your pistol from him, usually for a transfer fee.

These are C&R, curios and relics. A simplified ffl for c&r can be easily gotten and then you buy them and ups DELIVERS THEM TO YOUR DOOR!

Yeah, nice.

You may want to look into getting one...

Sorry but the Bulgarian Mak is not C&R, must go through a 01 dealer. The new pistols may begone as i read SOG's new ad that no longer shouts unissued and some on the forums have received worn ones. I have two and they are totally unissued as indicated by the accompanying log book.
