Building New Computer

Let me ask an honest question, similar to mrsMTN's above.

Years ago I did a lot of this stuff, but always upgrades ... never did build a complete system.

In the last couple of years I've had trouble with systems built by local guys, and I had concluded that my next system would be from Dell or Gateway ... the numbers seemed good, and it looked like it wasn't worth it to build my own.

Do you folks feel you can get a better system for better money by building it yourself? If so, what are the cost savings ... are we talking $500 in savings, or $50? ;)

Thanks. Regards from AZ

My complete system, not including monitor and other peripherals, ran just over $550.

If you can swap out video or other cards, you can build a complete system. Just make sure you get all the manuals with your components, particularly for the motherboard. Previously, I'd done no more than install ram and a graphics accelerator (Voodoo 1).

No kidding! Even with all of the top-of-the heap stuff?
That's very encouraging about the ability to build one. It's tempting.

As with AR lowers, you can get all the parts and add options, build your own, have a better one and SAVE $$$'s. This is THE way to go for _many_ for others not. I was no armourer and still am not, but I can build stripped lowers into AR's and mother boards into home quality P.C.s. I have found the savings go right back into the projects for better parts, components and/or more ammo. Thus realizing no money saved. Hmmm...
anodes.
