Buffalo Bore boasts bogus bullets?

So what does Cabela's say about this ? Their customer service has always been top notch for me for over 20 years.

It sounds to me like the quarrel is with Cabela's not BB. Why not contact Cabela's and have them take them back? They should pay shipping and everything.

I guess I'm mostly curious to hear if anyone else has purchased this particular load from BB and what came in the box.

I ordered the exact same ammo for my short barreled model 66 a few months ago, and it arrived with the SJHP just like yours.

Is this the standard and the website is just sloppy with an incorrect photo,

That's what I chalked it up to. I noticed when I ordered it was the same pic as the 125gr pills and figured it was a generic photo.

FWIW, the ammo performs exactly as advertised. It went over the chrono right at the velocity stated on the site for a 2.5" model 66, and is definitely low flash low recoil.

And while I agree it was sloppy to show the wrong photo, I am not sure it makes all that much difference in penetration and expansion for this round. I bought the ammo because of the manageable package of essentially .38 +P+ ammo, not just the bullet design.

zonamo: thanks for the helpful reply. Sound like this is what others are getting when they order this product. Good to know you've tested these and found the numbers matching up.

I haven't contact Cabela's because I was waiting for a reply from BB (in vain) and wondered if this was just the normal projectile based on others' experience (hence this post). Thanks to those who've offered their experience with these for the ol' database.

hmmm nothing says they are Gold Dot Hollow Point bullets. As for the ammunition received, they look to me as though they might be Speer JHP bullets. If someone wants Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point bullets, then that person needs to buy ammunition that specifies Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point bullets.
I had noticed a short while back that Buffalo Bore had changed the description from "Gold Dots" to "Speer Bonded" bullets in many of their loads. I also have noticed that Georgia Arms lists "Speer Bonded Unicore" hollow points instead of "Gold Dots" as they used to. I'm wondering if we're not seeing Speer's "Plinker" ammo -- http://www.speer-bullets.com/ballistics/detail.aspx?id=160

I wish all I had to worry about was ONE BOX OF CARTRIDGES purchased from a reputable maker weren't exactly like a picture. For all you know these are the "new and improved" and may work remarkably well. But instead you're stuck on photo op's. Ya know what? I've never had a whopper that looked as good as the adds and movie actress's usually don't look nearly as good in person. Get over it and go shooting.

I haven't bought Buffalo Bore - too expensive for me. But they advertise that round as using Speer bullets and the photos sure look like they can't be anything but Gold Dots.

At least if you want them for self defense, I'd be upset too if I paid for Gold Dots and got some random bullet. Maybe you learned not to buy BB, or at least not to order them through Cabelas.

Good eye, zonamo. I concur. Could be a good bullet even if it's not a hot commodity. BB is a small company growing in a hurry thanks to Cabelas and others. Bound to have supply probs (just like the rest of us!) and growing pains.

There are at least two components to customer satisfaction: 1] execution and 2] managing customer expectations. The quality and suitability of Buffalo Bore's product almost don't matter because they failed to manage your expectations. The "marketing" people where I work have the same problem.

I did not think Buffalo Bore was a small company- they are I understand a Chinese multinational concern.

Unless this site is wrong, it sure sounds like a small company
