Browning X Bolt .308 Unfired already reviewing

I'm not at all an Leupold fan, and have read some decent things about the new Redfields,

The new Redfields are basically rebadged Leupold "Riflemans". To the op, send your Redfield back to Leupold; I'm sure they'll make it right.

I returned the scope to where I bought it for a full refund. It is defective. They can send it back to whomever they want. I wanted to stay with something 3 or 4-12x40 but ended up going back to Nikon and picked up a 3-9x40 Primos with BDC. Everything else just looked too big on it. I tried mounting it on the same mount (Dednutz Gamereaper). Oddly, it was off. While bore sighting, the windage adjusted WAY to the left...way off the grid and beyond, but only a tiny bit past center to the right. There was no slippage in the adjustment knob. So, either the Dednutz guys have made a mistake with this mount design for this rifle, or the mounting holes on the rifle are off center. To remedy this, I put Leupold mounts on it instead. The rear mount let me tweak it enough that I now have full range of windage equal on both sides as well as up and down. I'm happy. I have a total of 7 Nikon scopes now and I'm pleased with every one of them. The Leupold mounts lowered the scope a bit too. There's barely enough room for the scope cover to go on without rubbing the barrel...just the way I like it! Now ...I guess I need to go sling some more lead and sight it in proper :)

No...the scope is bad too. Both windage and elevation adjustments only moved a tiny bit with huge skips. No matter what mount or rifle, the scope wasn't adjustable to zero. By that I mean, if I turn either knob as far to one side as I can and then track it back the other way, the crosshairs do not move except for a tiny portion of either adjustment. It's like there are stripped gears or something.

I still don't know if the mount design is off (same results from another Game Reaper mount) or the rifle barrel was tapped for screws wrong. Either way, it wasn't off much, but it doesn't take much being off to matter.

oh i see dang scope lol you would think beeing made bay leopuld the redfield would be a good scope the older ones where

That is an unusually nice piece of wood on that x-bolt! The ones I looked at weren't as pretty and lighter colored. I used to have an A-Bolt Micro Medallion in 7mm-08. Sweet little rifle. I had a hard time working up a load it liked though. Finally ended up with nice groups. I think the newer A-Bolts and the X-Bolt have better barrels now though.

Here's some pics of an identical one only I had a Nikon Monarch 3-9 x 40 on it and Leopold seperate mounts.

I have a Micro Medallion chambered in .22 Hornet that looks exactly like the one warbirdlover had. Happily, I still have mine. :)
