browning buckmark

GSB: I've seen the problem with the frame at the slide stop on 2 guns out of 5, but my uneducated guess is that it has something to do with the proper fit/installation of the grip panels. The grip panels hold in the slide stop.

Like I say, mine shows no signs, and I'm confident that Browning would replace it if it did show up, provided they still make them when/if it happens.

hksig--- It was a POS----because the top-strap wouldn't stay screwed down---i tried the loc-tite and all that.

Its an inferior design----anything you have to mess with that much is a POS----and long gone.

Accuracy was so-so. My little Ruger Std Model is a tackdriver.

Not to mention it comes with only one magazine and spares are pricey.

I just want to load it---shoot it---and clean it from time to time---not have to be constantly messing with it.

Oh please! Yeah, some guys can`t tighten 2 screws right and that makes the gun a POS. My 2 Buckmarks have probably well over 10,000rds. through em combined and the top strap has NEVER come loose on either of them. No Locktite required. I think most guys who complain about it either lost the lockwashers or overtightened them and cracked the washers so they don`t lock anymore. Furthermore if Locktite is properly applied (the threads have to be *clean and oil free*) it will NOT come loose. In fact depending on the color you use it`ll be damn hard to get loose with a wrench. Maybe it`s the gut wrenching shock of the .22lr cartridge working them loose. :p Marcus

That's just it---Nothing works loose on the Ruger.

No screws--no lock washers--no allen wrenches---no lost parts. Just load it up and shoot.

For the same money ---why put up with all the crap from a Buck Mark--------and I like Brownings----just not Buck Marks.

My thoughts: Fit and finish, excellent for the price; Accuracy: good and probably very good; Reliability: two failures to fire in about 900 rounds; Subjective: fits the hand like a glove and naturally points where you want to shoot. I like it. Louder than I expected, though, in case that matters.

Rugerfreak, you dislike the Buckmark, that's fine. But nothing you have said backs your contention that it is a POS. You just don't like it, that's all. Period. End of story. Those of us who don't mind torquing a screw every now and then don't agree with you and think that your criteria for what constitutes a POS are a little bizarre, to say the least.

Let's see:

Pros: great sights, great trigger, great ergonomics, geat accuracy (regardless of what you contend), low price.

Cons: sight base works loose now and then, slightly more ammo sensitive than some other models (although the cheapo CCI Blazers I use in it work great and drive tacks), some small parts on disassembly.

Yeah, a real POS.
