Browning Buckmark truoble. Pleezzzz help :)

Buckmark

Sir:
I know NOTHING about Buckmark except that I've never owned one and not to honk you off or be disrespectful but I'd trade it for a Ruger pistol.
I like the Mk II target bull bbl.

It shouldn't be so hard to get it out, and you shouldn't have to use pliers. Try pushing the recoil spring guide at the barrel-end of the rod a little bit (toward the rear of the gun) and then pulling it up toward yourself and lifting the whole thing out.

I used a pair of pliers and grabbed the firing pin housing, the part that seems to be stuck,
O.k., I'm looking at my owner's manual for my standard buck mark, and I can't find a firing pin housing part listed. If your model is like the standard buck mark, to field strip you just take the top off, get the recoil rod and buffer out, and you're ready to clean.

The black thing that the rod runs through. It houses the firing pin. And this Ruger shoots better, with less problems than the Ruger i had.

I'm disassembling my Buckmark for the first time and ran into what sounds like the same problem. I managed to remove the slide from the gun, but the recoil rod and firing pin housing (plastic part) would not come out of the slide.

What finally working for me was:
1. cover the problem components with oil and let sit for several minutes.
2. compress spring and force part of the rod through the hole in the plastic fire pin housing.
3. The rod sticking out on the other side gave me something to grab on to so I could pry that damn plastic component out of the slide.
4. Once I got one end of the firing pin housing lifted up, I was able to gently pry the slide and firing pin housing apart with my small flat head screw driver.

I didn't scratch anything, the rod didn't bend, and the sucker came apart!! Good luck everyone. :)

Yeah, that's productive...

Dear Sir:
Again; sell the buckmark and get a MKII Ruger bull bbl.
Harry B.

The man asks for help with his Buckmark and he's told to buy a Ruger. Nice. That kind of reminds me of folks in the autopistol threads talking about their 1911s and somebody jumps in from the woodwork and says "Buy a Glock!"

I have had my Buckmark 5.5" for 10 years now, and have never experienced a single hiccup or glitch. It's been exceptionally accurate, and a joy to use.

I've also had a Ruger MkII. I sold it a long time ago, and it wasn't just because the level of fit and finish were worse than the Browning's.

Dear GEWEHR:
Sorry you're irritated.
I just looked at two S&W 22 automatics; both were the worst examples of the genre I've ever seen. It seems that some 22 autos by major makers are being made as cheap as possible. Yes, I do like the Ruger mentality.
As to buckmarks, I'm sure that many are satisfied with them.
I don't care for Encores either; I do have a glock 20 and a s7w 457 and a cz tt9 - they are satisfactory to me, although I don't like the plastic and alloy lowers, and I think the glock is the most ludicrous carry gun for police possible!
My post to this gentleman was to help him not to smart off to him. I understand you're feelings.

Dear Sir;
it is evident you have a real problem with me; I explained myself adequately and expressed that I was sorry I offended you.
let's be men and drop this silliness now.
Harry Bonar.
