Brown Bear ammo - 9mm

Walmart sells Winchester White Box for $20/100.

IF you can find it, and that's a big IF.

I can find Blazer Aluminum case, Federal American Eagle, S&B, Speer Lawman, or Independance remanufactured locally for $12-16 a box anytime I like and will gladly pay the extra given the trouble I've had with Silver Bear.

Silver Bear is coated with zinc, not nickel. I would guess the steel cases are vapour coated rather than plated as plating would be more expensive. Another cheap ammo I like is the aluminum Blaser. Have shot several thousand rounds of it with a hitch. Have not bought any lately so am out of touch with its cost and availability.

Interesting, dogtown tom. Certainly sounds reasonable. Same result, just different chemical, pay more attention to cleaning the chamber :D

Never used Brown Bear. But a couple of times when I couldn't find any of the brass ammo I've shot steel. Also shot some of the Golden Bear. Didn't hurt any of the guns I've shot it through. Like I said when it's the only thing I can get it beats not practicing.

Unless you are shooting it out of an eastern block weapon, STAY AWAY from Brown Bear!

My .380 Makarov chews it up and spits it out.

My 9mm Taurus PT111 didn't like it. I got ~5 boxes on the cheap and consistently had extraction failures. Right after I used it all up, my extractor broke. Since it was a Taurus, I sent it back the factory and it was fixed free of charge and returned to me in a couple of weeks. They replaced the extractor and commented I shouldn't shoot reloads.

Silver Bear is coated with zinc, not nickel.

Whether it's zinc or nickel actually depends on whether it's Silver Bear rifle ammo or pistol. At least that's what it says on their website.

I never never had a problem with 9mm in my glock, except the fouling, but several times I had the .45s fail to extract from my HK. The steal case is much harder to extract and tough on the extractors. I quit using it years ago in my pistols. AKs and SKS never have issues but they were made to use steel cases.

It depends....I had a thousand rounds a while ago, and the cases were sort of a brownish color, they shot very well using my Beretta and a CZ PCR.

I reordered another thousand rounds a few months later, and these cases were a brass color. These did not to well at all, they jammed often in the same two guns, that the first batch fired without any problems.

I would only order a few boxes and see how your guns do ....
