Breakfree CLP

I've been using Break Free for years since the military went to it and haven't had a problem with everything M-60's, M-16's, M-203's Ma Deuce. Saws 1911's and M-9's.

Uuh, OK where is the usual post from some guy recommending using oil pan waste to lube guns to save money?:D "I spent 3000$ on a Boogermeister titanium stainless steel limited edition comp special, and I save money by lubing it with my dipstick in the pickup".

Is there better stuff than Breakfree CLP (or the Winchester equivalent) for general used in Handguns and Long guns. Perhaps. Lots of different opinions. But some of that seems to be an effort "gild the lily."

Breakfree CLP does what it should, and unless you're putting your gun through the weapons equivalent of Ranger training, it probably doesn't need to be a lot better.

Is there stuff that's less expensive and more-easily found?

Not around here.

Sometimes "good enough" is more than good enough.

I use some specific products for specific tasks. However, I could manage nicely with only Breakfree CLP for normal cleaning and lubrication of all my guns. It's the only thing I stick in my range bag for "just in case."

It also has the advantage of being odorless. I don't understand the wife's dislike of Essence de le Hoppes #9 or Perfuma le Eezox, but she's very sensitive to smells.

And I use discarded french-fry vegtable oil from McDonalds. Smells great.

Actually I use Breakfree CLP and it works fine for me.
