Bravo Company MK12 Mod 1 upper came in!

Boy, don't tell them that CMP sells M1 Garands to civilians. Afterall, it is a battle rifle, intended for combat.

Oh, they're fine with the Garand at this club. For some reason they think the AR-15 gives gun owners a bad name. I think it's because of the BS phrase "assault rifle". Heck, my 10/22 is an assault rifle, *IF* I assault someone with it.

I still can't think about it, it gets me worked up. I intend on going to the next membership meeting and politely propose that we modify our range rules to allow controlled rapid fire, and more than 5 shots in a magazine.

It burns me that the skeet and trap guys can load up their semiauto shot guns to capacity, but I can use my rifle as intended. Oh well, I'm not going to let it bother me, I applied to, and was accepted at another club in the area. They welcome ALL types of guns there.

thesheepdog, those low-mass BCGs from JP look sweet. Pricey, but seems like a cry-once kinda thing. Any data on reliability? Are we talking 5,000 rounds, or 10,000-20,000+? Any effect (positive or negative) on extraction & feeding because it cycles faster?

booker_t,

I have the tactical full mass version on my Grendel. My brother also has a full mass on his .223 SPR. So I can't speak for the Low Mass BCG's. I do want to try on badly and see how much reduction in recoil it offers.
The rifles have been reliable, completely. As far as round counts, we're only in the hundreds right now. But I would expect the BCG to outlast several barrels (20K-30K rounds easy)
I can say that those bolts are soooo smooth; when chambering a round, the resistance is reduced so much!! No roughness at all.
Since the bolts are solid stainless steel without any coatings, I would have to say they beat even milspec BCG's, just because I know SS holds up better-I worked/studied with metallurgy for 5 years.
Just put a little lube on one, rack the bolt a few times, and feel for yourself; it's like ball bearing smoothness.
The coolest thing is the surface finish; because even if your bolt is dry on lube, it'll still run reliably-due to the glass like smoothness and diamond-like hardness of it.

So I took the SPR to the range today, and tried to sight it in. I got the gun on paper, but the winds were too heavy (20mph gusts) to dial it in. And the AR Nazi showed up again...

Maybe the weather will cooperate this weekend.

Yeah the winds are 17mph here. I might still take some shots at some critters with my .308 though. What'd the nazi say?

I was shooting "too fast" again. He accused me of having more than one round in the gun at a time (which I did not, I use a "Bob Sled": http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=20660/sku=100001736/Product/AR_15_M16_ORIGINAL_BOB_SLED).

I told him that while I do not agree with rule, and that it goes against good marksmanship (breaking cheek weld to load another road), I will follow it.

I need to find a club where I can really shoot my AR as intended, with a full magazine, as fast as I want.

Shoulda told him to **** off. Thats pretty ridiculous that you can't have more than one round in the mag in a semi auto gun... or is it just for AR?

I agree, it's crazy that you can't use the gun as designed. It really burns me. Again, I was the only one at the range.

The rule on the rifle range is:

handguns: no more than 5 rounds in the gun
all long guns: one shot in the gun

But if you shoot a handgun at the handgun range, you can have six rounds in your gun.

It makes no sense whatsoever. I was accepted at another club, and I am still looking for a gun club that has common sense rules, not this crap where you can't shoot the gun as it was meant to be used.

If I'm approached again I am going to politely, but firmly tell him that I do not appreciate being harassed while I am trying to relax. I pay my dues like everyone else, leave me alone!
