I feel like a little kid lol, i'm excited as hell. Can't wait to shoot it just i don't have any sights and the rings i ordered for the 2-7x36mm scope i have laying around were way too low. So i sit and wait patiently :(. Here it is, on my BCM4 lower that i have for my 14.5, will be building a lower soon after i finish the upper. On a plus side i'm astounded by how light it is. I figured having a heavier barrel profile 12" of rail and 4 more inches of barrel would be a little heavier.

If you can't already tell i kinda like BCM :D

Agreed. This is my second BCM but i was just expecting it to be heavier. Hopefully i'll get to shoot it tomorrow and see how it groups.

Very nice build, congratulations. Do not worry, it will get heavyier once you start putting "stuff" on it.

This was a Superlite, alas no more.

Nice upper, Blackops!

I just bought the Bravo Mk12 Mod-2 (with the LaRue Tactical 12" rail). I'm building a SPR-wannabe.

So far:

BCM upper
DPMS lower (it was cheap, and as long as it is in spec, a lower is a lower)
Magpul PRS stock
Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40mm T2, on a LaRue SPR/M4 Scope Mount
Troy Industries BUIS
Harris bipod

I just need to put the stuff together and take the gun to the range. I'll post some pics if I get it all together tomorrow.

Thanks man. Yeah make sure to post your pics when you get it built. Are you hand loading for yours? I handload for all my bolt guns, but i just don't want to for this SPR. Honestly i don't feel like searching for brass everywhere after i can done shooting. And the thing throws them far. And i don't want a brass catcher. It's going to take me forever to get all the stuff together.

The rest of the build includes:

PWS or Vltor lower receiver (haven't decided yet)
DD LPK
LMT Sopmod stock
LMT match 2 stage trigger
Larue QD swivel stud mount
Leupold mark 4 MR/T M2 2.5-8x36mm
Ops. Inc. 12th model brake and collar, or BCM if they come out with theirs.

Going to take months but it will be soo awesome when it's ready. :D.

I go back and for between handloading and buying a cases of ammo for the ARs. I think my SPR-Wannabe will see mostly handloads though. Its purpose is to seek and destroy the terrorist soda cans that are trying to destroy our way of life, and it might also see duty as a groundhog-control gun too.

Anyhow, when I really want to ring out accuracy, handloads it is. But if I'm just working on technique or plinking, I use surplus Federal XM193 or DRS 68gr Match ammo (link: http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_info.php/pName/1000rds-223-drs-68gr-boattail-hollow-point-match-ammo/cName/223-556-match-ammo). It's really good ammo for the price (about $450 a case). I need to get a shellplate for my Hornady LNL AP, and then I'll start handloading more.

I have everything put together, just gotta get the camera out and take some pics. Oh yeah, I have one of those brass catchers. I won't say that it is a waste of money, as I sometimes use it, but it is a pain in the butt, as you *know* that it's there, it doesn't blend into the gun. I end up just picking a bench at the end of the firing line, so my brass doesn't mix with anyone else's (if anyone is even there, my gun club doesn't have a big rifle contingent), and I pick all my brass up at the end of my session.

Very nice.

I built up a BCM AR-15 that is very similar to their Recce-16. DD rail, Magpul goodies, Acog. Can't beat the quality, price, and service, in my opinion.

I wish mine was that complete. Looks great. Accuracy report is needed.

I plan on sighting it in/accuracy testing later this week.

I was at the gun club today with my Colt LE6920 and was scolded for shooting "uncontrolled rapid fire" at the rifle range. I guess shooting 1 shot per second, with all shots inside a 4" bullseye at 50 yards is "uncontrolled"...pfft!

I have a feeling it wasn't me they were after, but my gun. The club I use right now has a large contingent of people who think that AR's shouldn't be owned by civilians...I better not get started, it makes me mad to think about it.

Run some DRS through it and let me know how it shoots. We get about 1 MOA groups out of my friends RRA 16" with DRS 55gr soft point. I messed up and didn't get high rings and so the weaver rings i was going to substitute with the redfield 2-7x36mm are way to low for a AR. So i'll have to shoot mine some other time.

If ARs are allowed i'd give em the finger and keep shooting. Especially if your a member or it's a public range, tell em to grow the f*ck up.

Thanks sheep, nice gendel you have there also.

BlackOps,

You will need some high rings in order to mount a scope and get the proper cheek weld. That's one downside to an AR. But, with that extra elevation, you can have your DMR zeroed at 25 yards (which will also be zeroed at 300 simultaneously).

Does your MK-12 have a stainless barrel?

Boy, don't tell them that CMP sells M1 Garands to civilians. Afterall, it is a battle rifle, intended for combat.

Yeah after looking at the mk12 build log i understand why they use ARMS #22 extra high rings.

Yes the BCM 18" SPR barrels are SS410. The ones me and That'll Do got are ionbond coated however which cost a little extra. But supposedly it's extremely tough and absorbs oil and keeps what ever its covering very well lubricated. I was hoping to get a Ionbond coated BCG when i first got my BCM 14.5 but they were and still are out of stock, hell they might have stopped doing ionbond coated BCGs.

Ionbond coatings advantages

• reduced coefficient of friction

• increased abrasive wear resistance

• antiscuffing/antigalling

• high fretting resistance

• high pitting resistance

• resistance to corrosion and hydrocarbon fuels

• high integrity of surface structure

• good adhesion to base materials

If you feel you need an upgrade for you BCG, and can't get hold of one of BCM's, check these out:
http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.7_bc.php

These are by far probably the best BCG's you can get for an AR.

Oh yeah i've read about the JPs. This was just an idea when i was building my 14.5, the standard BCM BCG is more than enough.
