Boycott Disney

Disney and Publix are supporting efforts to overturn the "legal guns locked in cars" law in the state of Florida. I am asking all fellow gunners to boycott those two companies until they change their ways. For verification, check the NRA-ILA website.

Disney has long been an advocate of anti gun legislation.
Since I learned that years ago I have stayed away from their products every chance I get.

As I see it, it is "THEIR" property. If I say I don't want you to bring a gun into my home (not likely) I would expect you not to and if you tried, I would expel you from my property. Believe me I am VERY pro gun, but I do think Dizzy has the right to control their property, regardless of my personal opinion.
Besides, Dizzyland is WAY down on my list of places I would ever go to, so I guess I am already boycotting them. Has it helped yet??? Like they are going to fold up??

Greetings,
No guns locked in your car for the whole state?
I could understand no guns within their gate, but they're messin' with the whole state. That's pretty self-ish:barf:
Take care

One example if Disney's bias comes from long ago.
In the original writing of "Bambi" the people going through the woods shooting everything and creating the forest fire were "poachers", when Disney made the movie, they became "Hunters"

or property owned or leased by an employer who has obtained a permit required under 18 U.S.C. s. 842 to engage in the business of importing, manufacturing, or dealing in explosive materials on such property.

If Publix has a permit to engage in importing, manufacturing or dealing in fireworks, then they should be exempt. Whether they have the permit or not, I don't know.

Obtaining this permit is all that is necessary to avoid this law, and I suspect applications for this permit will rise dramatically in Florida as property owners try to preserve their property rights from intrusive laws such as this.

Plans are already in progress to try and change the law to include not only explosives but also radioactive materials, live ammunition, chemicals, and flammable liquids. If we can get those exlusions added, then many more places will be exempted, such as hospitals, wal mart, gas stations, etc. It will take a lot of hard work to reign in this law.

In The Rescuers, the bad lady, Madame Medusa, has an NRA sign on display in her pawn shop.

Believe me, I've seen every Disney feature-length cartoon at least 600 times. Guns are often used in Disney movies, rarely with any effect other than noise and as far as I can recall never with any good effect.

But, hey, people who like guns and people who want to make movies for kids just aren't often the same people. I don't know why.

This is nuts, IMO. Private property rights should prevail.

I'm off to Publix to support their stance against the unreasonable law (that will probably be amended or ruled unconstitutional).

NRA and others who support this law come off as gun nuts to average Americans, again MO.

As far as I knew most grocery stores LEASE the plot o' ground they reside upon...
Didknee wurld may own theirs but I consider my conveyance MY PROPERTY... If they were to fire me I would just tell 'em to go pound sand... I was lookin' for a job when I found that one...

LightningJoe: In The Rescuers, the bad lady, Madame Medusa, has an NRA sign on display in her pawn shop.

Wrong NRA :D

Many Disney cartoons were written and drawn during the Depression. From Wikipedia:

The National Recovery Administration (NRA), created in the United States of America under the 1933 National Industrial Recovery Act, was one of the New Deal programs of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his administration. The NRA allowed industries to create "codes of fair competition," which were intended to reduce "destructive competition" and to help workers by setting minimum wages and maximum weekly hours. It also allowed industry heads to collectively set minimum prices. In 1935, the United States Supreme Court unanimously declared the NRA as unconstitutional in the court case of Schechter Poultry Corp. v. US, on the grounds that it violated the Constitution's separation of powers.[1] The NRA quickly stopped operations, but many of its labor provisions reappeared in the Wagner Act of 1935.

The NRA, symbolized by the blue eagle, was popular with workers. Businesses that supported the NRA put the symbol in their shop windows and on their packages. Though membership to the NRA was voluntary, businesses that did not display the eagle were very often boycotted--making it seem to many mandatory for survival.
