Bought a Seecamp .32 yesterday

Sold a Colt yesteday, and while I was at the gunshop doing the transfer, I found a used Seecamp .32 for sale for a good price. Hard to find here in CA.

It's in great condition, and the trigger was good. Came with three extra magazines.

So I ordered a bunch of various ammo online to see what works.
I saw a good review of the Underwood Leigh copper.

Let's hear your recommendations for specific available .32 ammo for this gun.

Please lets not have this thread be another dreaded .32 is not enough for SD closed thread! I know the pros and cons.

I primary recommend Winchester Silvertip. Always worked just fine and I seemed to shoot well with it.
Gold Dot is another excellent choice.
Other brands I tried with no problems were Hydro Shok and Fiocchi.
I did not like Cor Bon.
I never heard of Underwood Leigh copper. If it fits in the magazine it should work.

Save an empty case or two to aid in takedown.

Congrats on your purchase. The Seecamp is well made, reliable and so, so easy to conceal. Get a good pocket holster and you're ready to go.

Could not find the gold dots anywhere! Also I saw that then new Winchester silvertips are 71 grain instead of the old recommended 60 grain. That wasn't a problem?
I did get some of the Fiocchi.
Got Winchester, Fiochhi, magtech, Hornady and Partizan coming.
Will take all out to the range and test and chrono.

Will save all cases so I can reload.

HOW DO YOU AIM WITHOUT SIGHTS??LOL

Oh, and while I was there doing the transactions, an older silver hair guy in a suit comes in and says that he inherited this old gun from his relatives. A new in the box Interarms Walther PPK, pristine condition!

He asked what they would give him for it, and they said commission only, they would ask 625 and he would be around 400.00.
Dang, I should have run into him outside in front of the store.
But consider it poor policy to offer right there after they dealt with him.
He went for it.

gotta hang out in front of the stores more often!:D

The Winchester web site shows the Silver Tip is 60gr. I've never encountered any WST at 71gr.

I forgot to mention Hornady. That too is excellent.

I aimed by muscle memory/ point shooting. However you can rotate the gun about 45 degrees and sight down the edge, a small V shape, formed by the barrel and slide. I never found this any better than natural pointing.

I still kick myself for passing on a beautiful blued Interarms PPK at $300 several years ago. What was I thinking??

BTW; I highly recommend the Hedley holster for pocket carry. A long history of making quality holsters. Check them out here. http://hedleyholsters.com/

I am getting FOUR magazines in the purchase. I read somewhere about modifying a magazine so you you can use the slightly longer FMJ as long as it is used only for that purpose and not hollowpoints as well.

But I found this as well about the Winchester FMJ:
LWS .32 AMMO UPDATE 12/22/09:

We recommend the following ammunition: Winchester Silvertips, Winchester Q4255 71 gr. FMJ, Hornady 60 grain SJH/XTP, Speer Gold Dot, or Federal Hydra Shoks.

An update on some ammo tested with my new Seecamp.
(Been offline for 3 weeks plus due to California wildfires).

Speer 60 grain HP gold dots shoot fantastic.
Winchester 71 grain 50 round white box FMJ shoot perfect.
Note: These FMJ are flat nose to fit the seecamps, not round FMJ like other brands that DO NOT FIT.
Hornady 60 grain Hollow point XTP DID NOT FIRE. THE PRIMERS WERE TOO HARD.

Gun was flawless with the above two loads. Have yet to try the Underwood Capitators.
Did try removing the mag liner to shoot FMJ and the Magtech did shoot, but not reliably.

Cool pistol, I think I need one of those. I came close last year, but didn't move fast enough. Oh, well, some day.

I wouldn't rely on a .32 ACP for SD.
There's always at least one!LOL

I've always been tempted by these, the Seecamp was one of the first modern pocket pistols wasn't it?

You’re a damned fool to carry a .32 for self defense! You’ll die! I’d never trust my life to a .32!!

Oh wait....I have.

I have a first year Seecamp .32 that I carried as a bug...as a bug to a bug. And, if wardrobe and circumstances called for it, as a primary. Just an awesome little gun.

They just reintroduced the .25. I picked one up. Very fun to shoot, no ammo limitations. It shot every loose, mixed, crap .25 I had laying around.

You did well.
