bought 22 LONG rounds...dang it. Fire in pistol?

Buy the revolver.

I can't be the only one that has done it. A few years back, I was young n dumb, ( under fitty yrs.) I bought a couple hundred CCI quiets. Too week to cylce through the 10/22 takedown. Since I just recieved my X-mas bonus and hadn't reported the income to the Mrs. it made perfect sense to go get the Henry GB. Never regretted that little 'hide it from the Mrs. ' game.

Too, the rifling twist for Long Rifle bullets is not suited for .22 Longs due the the latter's shorter length.

I don't know what gun you found this to be the case in, but I've never noticed it any of mine, and I've had several made to shoot short, long, and long rifle interchangeably.

The .22 Long is essentially the bullet from the .22 short, in the Long Rifle case. As mentioned, the long predates the Long Rifle. First was the BB & CB cap, then the .22 Short. A bit later, the case was lengthened and it became the .22 Long. A few years later, the "heavy" (40gr) bullet was introduced and the .22Long became the .22 Long Rifle.

Longs are perfectly safe to fire in every .22LR gun. They may or may not feed well through a box magazine. My experience is they work fine in tubular magazines.

Accuracy? I've found that to be up to your individual gun, and the ammo used, in my experience.

Ideally, rifling for the short and LR are different. Practically, there is no accuracy difference.
Longs will generally cycle in a LR gun- even a semiauto. IUf they don't have enough power to cycle the action, they can be cycled manually.
This fact seems to either be ignored by, or over some posters' heads.
