After a lot of searching and reviews I went with the cz455. Great fit and finish. An heirloom quality gun as they say. The 3 year review done by Nutnfancy had a lot of sway with me.

CZ or Ruger

I have a 7722 great gun, but I also have a CZ 452 American, 452 Trainer and 2 CZ 452 Scouts so thats' how I vote.

CZ for accuracy.

They need to be pillared and bedded to get the most out of the rifle. A $.60 spring from ACE or Grainger or wherever will get you pull to under a pound.

My Lord !!!! Backwards safety? It is all a matter of perspective. When you push the safety and nothing happens, pull on the tab and it will happen. No big deal. To analogize, would you not purchase an Anschutz 54 action target rifle for the simple reason that it needs to be touched differently to remove the bolt?

In a previous life I owned a CZ 452 Trainer. Sold it, but wish I hadn't. I own a Browning T Bolt, A Bolt, SA22, BL22 and Model 52 -- only the M52 shoots as accurately as that CZ 452. It was a real tack driver. I believe the CZ was stocked in beech wood -- impressive figure as well.

Few over-priced hole-punchers that are more fun than a Calico rifle ;)
100-rds per mag of .22lr Stingers make for a really great range day!!

Yeah, Buck Rogers would be proud of it ;)
There's also a wood furniture option...

452 American

Just ordered a 452 American from whittakers. Ups says it should be at my ffl dealer tomorrow. Can't wait to pick her up!!

"My pick would be the 77/22, possibly a Ruger American Rimfire."

The OP said HE WANTED A NICE 22 bolt action and the RAR ain't even close.
Ruger 77/22 is my pick.

Just picked up my 452 American. And if she shoots as good as she looks I'll be a happy man. Ordered it from whittakersguns.com yesterday and they got it to my FFL today. Couldn't be more pleased. I usually expect at least a few days wait when I order online. SWEET!!!

Between the Ruger and the CZ, I'd take the Ruger.

My first pick would be a Kimber 82 Govt Model, I see then in online auction sites for 600-1200 dollars, depending upon condition.

Aside from the fact that you're 2 months late to the party and he already bought a CZ...

It's a matter of personal preference.

Some people think pure function is a thing of beauty, and that eye candy is a waste of money.

Me? There's a nice 77/22 in my safe. But right next to it, you'll find an off-brand Stevens that spent 30+ years being used as a door stop in a machine shop. I almost love the "ugly" one more than the 77/22. They're equally accurate and equally reliable. But the off-brand door stop cost me pennies and I do have more fun with it.
